eh you still have to find another team that wants what you can trade that doesn't cripple your team in the process.  I mean we have garbage in the minors so you're not gonna get a great player in return from our minor leaguers so you'd have to take away a player from our MLB roster and supplement with some middling prospects in return.  So just saying you need to trade big isn't exactly the easiest thing.  GMs (and AGMs lol) aren't utter idiots (despite what their fanbase says about them every time they have a poor season) and aren't going to agree to a really lopsided deal.

Which is probably something that I said when Sherman first bought the team.

If free agents especially are going to take this franchise seriously, you will have to overpay and send a message with a couple of free agents.

Similar to the Jayson Werth signing way back when.

Essentially its akin to paying for the sins of your father.

 

Sherman has refused to do that.  With this new hire, I dont see Sherman doing that anytime soon.  Its going to be business as usual for the Marlins financially.  If you like the Tampa model, then you are maybe going to be successful in the regular season but a dismal failure in the playoffs.  Gimmick ball is coming because thats how you can 'beat' the game and not spend money.  Sadly this shit doesnt work in the playoffs as its being proven time and again with all these analytically driven teams that rely on analytics ONLY.  

Thats whats coming to Miami.  Skip may be on his way out simply because I'm not sure he conforms entirely with analytical ball.  If Skip conforms, great.  If not, then thats the type of manager you'll see in Miami.
