Brujan seems more to be replacing Hampson. IKF could be more like Wendle in that we'd probably pencil him in as the primary shortstop but I'm not sure he's the best bet for that either. He seems more like Berti in that he can contribute quite a bit but I'm not confident he should be the every day guy.

Also IKF is jsut as dumb to want as your everyday SS if they get him, plus they already have IKF in Berti, tbh.

They just came off a playoff appearance and they aren't the lowest spending org so why would MLB "make them spend"?

Last year was SUPER flukey and it’s in the best interest of MLB to make sure the Marlins do everything to SIGNIFICANTLY improve cause as of right now, I fully expect a major regression. And if/when they do, it will immediately disqualify last season as  luck and throw the organization back another 5 years. They had the worst run differential by far (of any team in the postseason), they were bottom five in offense, and as of today they lost their most impactful bay in Soler. So some serious shut needs to go down!

Attendance was up, playoffs were made, and they weren't the lowest payroll. MLB isn't going to look at run differential and say "you better spend to improve your run differential or else you have to sell". 

I'm not arguing that the team is fine as is I'm just saying they aren't going to force Bruce to sell based off what by almost all accounts was a very successful season as it also enhances the illusion of parity.

His glove, elite speed and on base ability are very intriguing.  He has zero power but I was looking forward to seeing how his skills translate at the MLB level.  Oh well.  Maybe we can get him back if he doesn't stick with the Nats.  Not the end of the world.  

Considering how many low payroll teams have success and how many high payroll teams missed the playoffs last year, it would take so much for MLB to force any team to spend. 

Wild that people still believe spending is the key factor towards on field success anymore.

Someone make a phone call to Cooperstown and ask them to start working on Nasim's HOF plaque ASAP.

At this point I would just experiment with Xavier Edwards or Dane Meyers at shortstop. Let them compete for it in spring training. I also wouldn't be opposed to make both of them in the infield somewhere and move players around with Bell as DH and either Arraez or Burger at 1B. Don't know what it is about Skip and not wanting to play Edwards. These new budget infielders they got/looking to get aren't any better than the budget infielders we already have.
