I get the idea of trading high on a starter if it brings back multiple major leaguers but our starting pitching depth is already shot and now we'd deplete it even further? Last year when we traded Pablo we had a depth plan in place and then added in Cueto as well. We don't have that now.

Rosenthal’s article makes it sound like Bruce Sherman has an input on decisions being made. 

Also makes it sound like the Royals rejected the offer. 

I find that hard to believe as usually, lefties who throw mid 90s are more valuable than DH’s even if the DH has another year or two of control. 

I like Vinnie P and wouldn’t even mind the deal if it was Vinnie P + more, but no way I’d do it 1 for 1.

There is no way that the Royals reject a 1 for 1 like that.  I'd find that to be simply unbelievable.  There had to have been much more that was on the table going to Miami.
