Sherman has refused to do that.  With this new hire, I dont see Sherman doing that anytime soon.  Its going to be business as usual for the Marlins financially.  If you like the Tampa model, then you are maybe going to be successful in the regular season but a dismal failure in the playoffs.  Gimmick ball is coming because thats how you can 'beat' the game and not spend money.  Sadly this shit doesnt work in the playoffs as its being proven time and again with all these analytically driven teams that rely on analytics ONLY.  

Thats whats coming to Miami.  Skip may be on his way out simply because I'm not sure he conforms entirely with analytical ball.  If Skip conforms, great.  If not, then thats the type of manager you'll see in Miami.

im not against bendix i have said that many times. i was upset with the losing of kim but i wasnt upset at bendix hiring. i was suspicious of the motives of it. its clear kim was making moves that were too expensive for bruce. i think bendix is a great hire but lets not act like he was hired to improve the team, hes here to run a cheap team and hope to have a winner. the 'sustainable' bull is the same thing Jeter said when he got here in the press conference, it was the same word. I heard the Marlins had a recruiting dinner with Ohtani with Bruce and Bendix at McDonald's. They bought 2 items on the dollar menu and a cup of water for him.

This is crap, full of assumptions and glass half empty negativity, but you do you.

Why wouldn't Bendix be hired to improve the team? The Rays have been better than us for years, no matter how they do it.

And sustainable winning is a real thing because plenty of teams have been able to achieve it. In no way does that word only mean cheap and rebuilding. Actually I'd argue it means the opposite because sustainable winning means you are not in the cycle of having to rebuild every few years. It means you're constantly bettering the entire organization while winning at the same time, not one or the other. 

We should just pay somebody at this point to send a message. 

It worked when we signed Avisail Garcia, for example. It’s why we made the playoffs last year.

And to answer the question posed to @Michael, Jordan Walker who isnt really an OF and I wouldnt be shocked seeing him as the 1b once Goldschmidt retires or Noot.  Unfortunately for other teams, neither is being moved.

You cant just pick some chap and sign him for a whatever deal because he would come at just slightly over what his perceived market value was.  

Anyone that had paid half attention to Avisail Garcia's career and where he had achieved success could have seen him being bad coming miles away (ok maybe not THIS bad but still)

You have to actually intelligently sign someone.

I went to Panera today and I ordered the pick 2 soup and a sandwich combo and I upgraded my soup from a cup to a bowl.

You say I make assumptions and then make this assumption as if Bendix is the reason the Rays are good. That's like saying Mike Trout and Ohtani are the reasons the Angels are bad.

This is a terrible comparison.

Bendix, unlike Trout and Ohtani, has a say in roster construction.

Nobody would ever say or even consider thinking that Trout and Ohtani were the reasons the Angels were bad. That's absolutely silly. And totally on par with your mindset thus far.
