LoMo to AAA, Helms Released
he said the Florida Marlins Community Foundation “dropped the ball and didn’t sell enough lanes in advance. THAT is most probably what he doesn't want to talk about. The FMCF is behind the annual in-game auction. Nancy Olson ran the outfit since '99 and just retired a month ago. She's a big bowler. FMCF has raised about $7 million for charity, almost all of it while she was running it. Every time she's interviewed, Rich and Tommy absolutely kiss her a$$. She's been with the Marlins since '96 and has both WS (staff) rings. She called her brother from the pitcher's mound after game 6 in '03. She and FMCF are untouchable, and he was too dumb to realize it and stepped over the line. Essentially insulting her by blaming the FMCF is likely the straw that broke the camel's back, on top of the generalized Twitter issue, the Hanley issue, generally being a loud-mouth, etc. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's packaged up and traded before next year. I agree with the Twitter portion. I was following him and some of his posts show his maturity level. Plus he was filling up my feed with useless posts. I bet his general immaturity and big mouth is the main reason for all of this.

2003 Marlins NLDS Game 3 on MLB Channel NOW
What a fun time that was. I was sitting in LF right by the opposing bullpen. I can still see Jeff Conine throwing the ball to homeplate with Pudge blocking and holding onto the ball to end this series! The good old days. The Marlins might be able to get back to that point with the new stadium as long as they up the payroll to where it needs to be. Uh I think that would of been game 4 of the NLDS. Unless the original poster meant game 4. Pretty sure the Giants won one game that series.

Uggla sad that he might get traded
I would hate to see him go but certainly understand the Marlins need to manage a budget. I hate losing his power, but maybe they can replace it in the new rightfielder it appears they will also be getting. As much as I'm not a fan of Bonifacio, it wouldn't kill me to see him at 2b and keep Coghlan in LF. it would kill me to have boni at 2b. He is not a mlb starter. Me too. It seems like his best game was the first game of the season. The game where he could not lay a bunt down in the 9th a couple weeks ago lost it for me. As a speedster not being able to bunt makes you almost useless on the offensive end. Like everyone else says if we lose Uggla we will need something to come from somewhere to replace it and his name is not Bonifacio.

2003 Postseason on DVD?
I looked for these awhile back and found all 7 games of the NLCS on EBay but someone outbid me for it. Haven't seen anything like it since. It'll pop up every now and then though. I always wanted a copy of game 1 of the NLCS.

Fredi's speech to the club tomorrow UPDATED FOR SUNDAY!!
*Fredi walks into the clubhouse from a door on the left* *Fredi walks towards TV, tries to turn off TV but accidentally presses the Menu button. After fumbling around a bit more he finally turns it off* This is some good stuff.

Fredi's speech to the club tomorrow UPDATED FOR SUNDAY!!
I think it would really go like this. * Team is in clubhouse watching TV * Fredi: Guys, we can really take it to the Mets. If we sweep, they're eliminated. What do you say? Cabrera: Shh, shh. Watching something Fredi: Hmm... what do you say Reggie? Reggie: Shut yo' ass up, skip. You know you ain't got sh*t. * Drinks kool-aid * Fredi: Oops, sorry Reggie. Didn't mean to anger you. Is anyone gonna listen to me? * No one says anything * Fredi: Alright guys. * While Fredi leaves, Uggla sticks out his leg, causing Fredi to trip. Uggla then does his handshake with Amezaga * Fredi: ROFL, good one guys. Dude that is freaking classic. lol.

Borchard
Shut up, Joe Borchard is the worst player ever, strikeouts suck, he's the reason we suck this year, etc. Shouldn't you be spending this time posting .291 a hundred more times in the thread about Pudge? I mean that is really important. I personally didn't think he was that bad. He hit some clutch bombs for us last year if I recall. He just never got much of a chance this year. Not saying he should be in CF but he is not as bad as he is made out. What has Linden done that makes him more deserving of the 4th-5th OF spot?

2008 Free Agents...
1B Carlos Delgado NYM (Failed last time as a Marlin, in my mind) $ beg pardon? I was going to ask the same thing. How did he fail as a Marlin? That failure was a team effort.

Do they show Marlins games in Fort Myers Beach?
Thanks, on the other side of Santa Maria, you have the beach, so that doesent concern me. Anyone know of anything to do there? And I dont mean museums and all of that. They have Hooters in FMB. Is that what you mean? Lanai Kai, etc?

Trade Rumours are loud about Olivo now
I am not ready to give up on Olivo just yet, I think he'll get it together for next season, and I seriously think these rumors are totally false! I agree. i think he has all the talent in the world to be a great cathcer but his hitting needs to improve especially with bunting, strikeouts and pitch recognition. His speed and arm are great and he really plays the plate well. His power numbers are decent but i think he can turn it around. I am with both of you. I think his arm is severely under-rated and he has more pop than your average catcher. I think his most obvious downside is handling lefties but I think he can continue to improve on that. Now if he only had Jobu to help him hit curveball.

Scott Olsen gets a two game sit down
I used to think Scott's fire was like Josh Beckett...now its more like AJ Burnett, and thats not good... the number 34 on his back is going to his head... Good point. Josh used it to fire himself up more. I liked AJ but his attitude was crap. Sad that Toronto had to pay $55 million for him. On his pace he is averaging $1 million per win. Problem is he is not Roger Clemens.

Club Seating Question
I went last night and a very nice lady gave us free tickets to Sec 250. But we just sat in 254 because it was empty. All the people around us were annoyingly quiet. We still had a blast. I would recommend any seats in that whole area.

Right Field
hello all, i have unsuccessfully tried many times before but this is my 1st ever post to this board. i have read the site the past few years and am very happy to finally be able to join in the conversation. hermida is nauseating in right field. he is never under a ball waiting for it and on occasion he does stuff that should only be reserved for tee ball (as tommy previously noted). how can hermida possibly be allowed to start either of the next two games after doing something like that tonight? oh ya, i guess the answer is joe borchard, todd linden, and eric reed. but make no mistake, HERMIDA BLOWS. Im sorry you finally figured out how to post. His opinion might be wrong, but that is a pretty dickish thing to say to a 1st time poster...at any site. I agree with you about the other guy being rude but how could his "opinion" be wrong? It's his opinion. I don't think we should yank Hermida for a bad play but his defense hasn't been super.

TV ratings
Not entirely sure what you're getting at. There's still about 4.5 million people among those 3 counties. Fish draw on Palm Beach and Naples for alot of support as well. Aka $$$$$$$$$4 Naples? Come on thats a stretch. How many marlins fans are there in naples or ft myers? I dont think there would be many. More than you think.

It really baffles me...
well for one thing you had Cabrera going 3-4 but right behind him Jacobs and Hermida a combined 0-7 so he didn't score at all. As much as I like his potential, Hermida is still killing us. I take it back.

It really baffles me...
They get shell shocked. I love it how we score runs in the 9th when we are down by 4/5/6 runs but when we are down by 1/2 runs we roll over and die. Argh.... they need to be smacked. Well this has definitely been a trend that's gone on for the last 2 weeks or so and it's a mistery to me. Maybe they all need to be bitch-slapped back to reality. It's the nature of being an all or nothing team. We broke the team home run record last year and have a similar squad this year.

What's the deal with Marlins on Cable?
i am in the naples area. i will call today. Please do.....e-mail too! Comcast Naples/Fort Myers: Admin Schweber, GM (239) 793-9634 Good luck! BTW, I live in Cape Coral and have Dish Network. If you can get a Dish, it is better. I am in Naples as well. I emailed that guy a couple weeks ago and received no response. I think they are being cheap. We actually had all the games last year and the year before. This year they decided to be cheap.

How much longer will the Marlins show patience?
I am only posting because I am superstitious and want to keep the thread going. Didn't see the game but saw he got the eventual GW RBI today.

Marlins interested in Michael Barrett
Yuck, Cubs want to move him because he sucks why would we want him? That happens with many players. Look at the trade for Kim. The Rockies thought he was garbage. Sometimes people just need a change of scenery. I am not saying Kim is the answer, just saying that is doing better over here.

How much longer will the Marlins show patience?
Another guy to add to MarlinsLou's list is Brett Boone. He didn't reach the 20 HR mark until he was 29. He ended up having 6-7 really good years after that. With or without the juice. There really isn't enough history with Hermida to say he is a failure. He's dominated every level since he was like 14. Since he was hurt while playing last year he really is a rookie this year. I personally think he needs to be more aggressive. Many times his patience ends up in many called strikes which, in turn, always seems to be behind in the count. I have had my doubts but I really think he will be ok.

Anibal Sanchez to see Dr Andrews
That trade with the Red Sox isn't looking so good now. I'm sure the Red Sox didn't mind giving up a pitcher that has had injury problems throughout his short career. Better keep the fingers crossed because Dr. Andrews usually means T-John surgery. He does Tommy John but his elbow isn't injured, it's his shoulder. So maybe it's a precaution.

Anyone going today?
Yeah it was real tough getting tickets. I was worried for awhile but we eventually got in and sat about 8 rows behind the Marlins dugout. If anyone was there I was sitting next to a really loud guy screaming at the D Rays pitcher the entire game. The funniest part was when everyone was yelling "Wilson!" when Josh Wilson batted. That was classic.
