5/6 - San Diego Padres at Florida Marlins - 1:05 PM
San Diego Padres (16-14) at Florida Marlins (14-15) Jake Peavy vs Scott Olsen 1:05 PM ET on FSN ESPN.com Preview Jake Peavy has been close to unhittable in his last two starts, but he and the San Diego Padres have little to show for it. After losing each of their ace's last two outings, the Padres hope to reward Peavy with a win as they take complete a three-game series with the Florida Marlins at Dolphin Stadium on Sunday. Peavy (3-1, 2.06 ERA) has been stellar in his last two outings, giving up just three runs and eight hits while striking out 26 over 14 innings. But the right-hander has only one loss to show for it as the bullpen squandered a lead in a 3-2 loss at Arizona on April 25, and the offense failed to help in a 3-2 defeat Monday against Washington in which he allowed three runs in seven innings while striking out 10. "We're not swinging the bats the best in the world," Peavy told the team's official Web site. Peavy is 0-2 with a 2.84 ERA in as many starts lifetime at Florida, where he has received just one run of support in those games. He is 2-3 with a 3.69 ERA in five overall starts versus the Marlins. But San Diego (16-14) may be on the verge of breaking out offensively following a 7-6, 12-inning win Saturday, its third victory in the last four games. The Padres took advantage of two Marlins errors in the ninth inning to erase a two-run deficit, and the seven runs were their most since scoring 10 in a victory at Arizona on April 24. "We keep it exciting," said Padres manager Bud Black, whose team improved to 6-7 in one-run games. "I think the guys are feeling really good about this win. Which they should." The Marlins (14-15) had won five of their previous six home games before Saturday's loss and fell to 0-3 in extra-inning games. "That's how this game is sometimes," said Marlins closer Henry Owens, who blew his first save in five chances. "Sometimes they don't hit the ball very hard, but they find holes. Wasn't our night." Despite the defensive miscues, Florida's offense again produced as the Marlins reached double digits in hits for the 10th time in 14 games. They are batting .284 as a team during that stretch. Third baseman Miguel Cabrera is hitting .462 (18-for-39) during a 10-game hitting streak, and is a .400 (32-for-80) career hitter against San Diego. Scott Olsen (3-1, 5.63) gets the start for Florida. On Monday, the left-hander allowed four runs -- two earned -- in six innings to pick up the win in the Marlins' 9-6 victory over the New York Mets. Olsen limited the Padres to one run and two hits in seven innings in his lone career start against San Diego -- a 2-1 Florida win June 10.

8/18 - Atlanta Braves at Florida Marlins - 7:35 PM
Atlanta Braves (56-64) at Florida (56-64) Tim Hudson vs Scott Olsen 7:35 pm EDT on Sun Sports ESPN.com Preview MIAMI (Ticker) -- In a sub-par National League, the Atlanta Braves and Florida Marlins still have playoff hopes despite sitting eight games below .500. The Braves and Marlins both try to hold onto their fading playoff hopes Friday when they square off in the opener of a three-game series. Atlanta is coming off of a split of a four-game series with Washington. Oscar Villarreal made his first start of the 2006 season in Thursday's series finale, tossing five impressive innings in a 5-0 win. The Marlins salvaged the final game of their three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who had their six-game winning streak snapped. Miguel Cabrera had three hits, including two home runs, and drove in five runs for Florida in a 15-4 victory on Wednesday. Atlanta and Florida each sit 5 1/2 games behind Cincinnati (62-59) for the top spot in the NL wild card standings. Tim Hudson (9-10, 4.94 ERA) takes the mound for the Braves, looking to continue his impressive August. The veteran righthander has gone 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA in three outings. Hudson has struggled on the road this season, however, posting a 6-5 record with an inflated 5.27 ERA away from Turner Field. He is opposed by Scott Olsen (9-6, 4.19), who has impressed in his first full year in Florida's rotation. However, the 22-year-old lefthander has struggled in August, going 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in three starts.

8/16 - Florida Marlins at Los Angeles Dodgers - 3:10 PM
Florida (55-64) at LA Dodgers (64-56) Josh Johnson vs Mark Hendrickson 3:10 pm EDT on FSN ESPN.com Preview LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Dodgers aim for an 18th win in 19 games Wednesday when they conclude a three-game series against the Florida Marlins. With their impressive surge, the Dodgers have opened a 3 1/2-game lead over the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West Division. Their latest win was a 4-0 triumph Tuesday as rookie Chad Billingsley and two relievers combined on a three-hitter. The Dodgers give the ball to Mark Hendrickson (5-12, 4.05 ERA), who has gone just 1-5 his last nine starts. On Friday, he did not factor in a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, allowing 10 hits but just two runs in seven innings. Hendrickson beat the Marlins in Miami on August 6 after giving up three runs and six hits in six innings. Florida starts rookie Josh Johnson (10-6, 2.69), who comes off a great performance against Arizona on Friday in which he pitched seven scoreless innings while giving up only two hits. His previous start was against the Dodgers, and he didn't fare nearly as well. In a 10-2 loss on August 5, the righthander only last three innings, giving up five runs and eight hits. The Dodgers are 5-0 against the Marlins this month, outscoring them by a combined 31-9. Florida rookie Dan Uggla had his 11-game hit streak snapped in Tuesday's defeat.

How to lose a ballgame
if pinto pitched you would be complaining how he walked half the people he faced I didn't ask for Pinto to come in. No one should come in a situation like that in their debut. Pinto has like 50 walks in 40 IP in the minors....he has talent but you don't bring him in a close game in his debut. I would have pitched Borowski or Messenger. Maybe if he pitches the 9th, it would be different results...who knows. Taylor Tankersley PLEASE! If Messenger is the one who pitches the 9th and gives up the lead instead you'd start this same thread with Messenger's name in place of Kensing's.

Best.Magician.Ever.
I've got an autographed picture of David Copperfield, I sent an e-mail to him on his website and he mailed me an 8x10 autograph like 3 weeks later. And then you sold it along with your other autographed items for a new rifle.

Looks like it's hunting season. Go get them Accord

Mike Lowell should retire
Lowell's spring average is up to .270...but still with no homers. Alex is batting .097 though, but Alex has a homer. Yikes. Cut bait on those two at the right time. Abraham Nunez says Spring Training means a ton.

Admin you are going to LOVE this
King of the Hill sucks, I don't understand why it's still on the air. It's a travesty that it remains on the air, but Futurama has been off the air for a few years now. You probably hate King of the Hill because Hank Hill is a republican and voted for George W. Bush :lol . I can hardly contain my laughter.

Pirate ship fires on US ship?
Nothing like a little gunfire to get Accord's motor going. If you can't read English and are reading this thank google's language tools. Some idiot pirates took on two Navy missile cruisers, there were no U.S. injuries, but the pirates didn't fare too well One pirate died and a few wounded right?

Barry Bonds
Yawn. How many positive tests? I'm really sick of this whole thing. You don't have to like the guy, but you sure can't take away anything he's done. Yawn. How many positive tests did Mike Lowell have? Yet you managed to imply his downslide is due to being off steroids numerous times.

Reese terminated
2 for 10 with two singles.......and he's the starter already......wow. So if they allowed the 2 competitors (Amezaga or Andino) to get the job it would be because they are 'cheap' but then again choosing Uggla is bad too in your mind so who would you have get the job?

Walt Disney was a Marine. So he had a gun in his possession which is why you had to randomly mention that. Your gun obsession is beginning to scare me.

Dan Uggla piece from Flamarlins.com

Funky Catch in Alex Gonzalez' Contract
Gonzo has had a -75 FRAA over the past five years meaning he has cost the fish 15 runs a year on the DSide of the ball and a terible offensive player God knows i wouldnt have signed him He had a -25 GRBUUAAKD though. There's a stat to back up anything anyone wants to say these days so it's meaningless. Watching the games would show you he saved the Marlins runs, and not the opposite but people making up new stats are too busy to actually watch the games.

Grandmother kills intruder
Buckeye: Do you even give a crap about this or are just doing your normal stir crap up routine with your posts? "going to die pretty soon" anyway is a reason to just stand by and wait to be attacked? How was she to know if he was armed, dangerous, etc. Doesn't matter how old she is, she was at risk. You post stupid crap like that all the time and 1/2 the time it's not because you believe it but because you know it'll piss a bunch of people off. Get a life.

There's nothing out of context about what you said and please don't resort to insults. If you can't prove your point, do not make yourself look any worse by making childish remarks.
