Top Five Pitchers Under 25 Years Old
At least Beckett had the balls to pitch on three days rest when his team needed him - unlike that b***h, Jason Schmidt, who didn't take the mound when Felipe needed him. :hat

Top Five Pitchers Under 25 Years Old
And Sabathia should be #2 Give me a break - Sabathia is a fat bum with a bloated ERA above 4.00. He shouldn't even be included on this list. :thumbdown

Backup spots up for grabs...
You have Burnett listed twice - at #14 & 16.

Battle for the Bullpen
One of the players we should keep is Scott Sanders. We need another lefty in the bullpen with Almanza gone and he has done very good on all the spring training seasons he has been to with us. Too bad he's a righty. :thumbdown

The blackout continues...
I emailed Bush regarding the lack of Marlin coverage - please find his response below - >Mr. Mal: >Thanks for writing. >With pitchers and catchers reporting on Saturday, our daily Marlins coverage >will kick off in the Saturday Herald. You'll find daily coverage the rest of >the way through spring training and throughout the season. >Thanks again for writing, and for reading The Herald. >Richard Bush Seemed like a reasonable response. Let see how the coverage is from this point out.

$20 marlins jersey
Cabrera = 24. I like that. I seem to recall another fairly good ball player that wore #24!! I may be aging myself here! The Say Hey Kid??? :notworthy

Marlins sign Darren Oliver
what the hell...this guy sucks ass and should have recieved nothing more than a minor league deal. I assume you'd rather have that bum - Scott Sanders??? Give Oliver a chance. He's a lefty, he's a veteran, he won 13 games last season and he will eat up innings. Working with Rosey and pitching in PPS will straighten him out. I also see him as being a positive influence on DW. :hat

Cordero signing soon?
Another lefty!!!! YAY I'm 99% sure he is right-handed. :hat

Go Cats Go!
As a Wildcat fan, I need to take advantage of these moments! Two in a row over Iowa and Illinois. Hopefully the role can continue vs. IU. The Cats actually got some more great news this week, as 6-10 C Michael Thompson of Duke will be transferring to Northwestern next year.

Go Cats Go!
How about those Northwestern Wildcats?!?!?! Tell Ramp to look out on Saturday. The Cats are coming to Bloomington. Look out Hoosiers. :thumbup

Some Orange Bowl/Fish Bowl Info...
I pulled this off a Hurricanes site... 2) Multi-Facility Complex: The facility would be built in what is now the North OB parking lot. The first base line would have its "back" to the Northern sidelines. Imagine a baseball stadium along side the OB, the entire northern upper deck will be a luxury suite tower, much like what you see at Lambeau Field, plus the east endzone has an added upper deck. This would cost an estimated $375 million. The Canes and marlins would not have to share a field. Both stadiums would share concessions and restrooms and other infastructure, which is good for economies of scale. The suites in the OB would be limited to the Northern upper deck instead of the southern upper deck, so those seats would not be affected. The east endzone will have a lower level. There is quite a bit of conversation and some excellent pictures on the Canes site. OB Site

PTBNL for Redman?
I'm guessing that since he ultimately signed with Oakland we were entitled to the player. Speculation was that the $$$ amount was rather insignificant and we are much better off with a 22yr old left-handed pitching prospect. BTW - have you gotten your Kotsay Oakland A jersey yet? Will he be wearing #7?

Payroll will be just over $51 mil
Uhhhh, a lefty specialist? Mike Myers? Myers has filthy stuff. :w00t

Owens sucks. He is the worst defensive replacement in baseball. The guy was a butcher in the outfield. :hat

lefties
You can scratch Arthur Rhodes from the list of available left-handed free agent relievers. He is signing a three year deal with Oakland. The remaining LH relievers include: Lloyd Myers Guthrie Villone Rusch The only name that intrigues me is Mike Myers. His side-arm delivery is murder on left-handed batters. If I'm Beinfest I would go all out to sign him. I cannot endure another season of Tejera and AA as the lefty specialists in the pen. I'm sure Trader Jack would concur. :hat

Javy Lopez no Longer an option for Fish
Great...Lost a whole bunch of players from the World Series Champion Team, doesn't look like we are getting any free agents in Lopez or Benitez...And this one year special money thing is stupid...Why bother pissing money away for one year on Vlad if he is only gonna leave like Pudge did... :thumbdown Great...Kept the young nucleus of players from the World Series Champion Team, doesn't look like we are going to waste $ on overpriced free agents in Lopez and Benitez...And this one year special money this might not be a bad idea...Why not take a chance on spending the money for another year on Vlad if he brings us a World Championship like Pudge did... :thumbup

Redman Officially Traded to the A's
redman was gone regardless of vlady or anyone else OK, I do think you are starting to live in denial now. Why would the Marlins send Redman out for a reliever AND cash when they can trade him to someone else straight? Could it be because they have more faith in themselves then you place in them? And I haven't given up on Eischen, I was just requested to change it earlier today and gave in to the request. if they could have traded him for someone else (read better) don't you think they would have? Red's $3+ million arb figure made him expendable the moment we won the WS. Marlins2003, I concur. Also, Red faded miserabley down the stretch. He had the same problem with Detroit two seasons ago. I think this is another case of the Marlins getting some quality for a player they otherwise would have to have had let walk due to arbitration (similar to the Juan Enc. deal). Neu is a quality young arm - with a low salary. :hat

Redman Officially Traded to the A's
Sounds like Big Red's stay in oakland will not be long...rumor has it Beane will use him as trade bait to get either LoDuca or Kendall. A's are in need of a catcher after dealing Ramon Hernandez. Also, Neu sounds like he can contribute immediately. Excellent walk-to-strikeout ratio. I believe he was a Rule V guy who spent the entire year on the A's roster. :thumbup
