Back to my original thought FIRE PRESLEY!!!! dig up Robinson and sprinkle him the voodoo dust

Miller DID have a chance to drive in a run after Carroll tripled........just saying :whistle

When will this kid finally live up to his potential? I wish he wasn't rushed up to The Show so damn soon.

It may be ignorance, but... what does it matter if a person is rushed to the big leagues too soon?

Psychological self-consciousness or what? And if so, who cares! He should have gotten it down by now.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but I believe either a player HAS IT or he DOESN'T.

I've been patient with Miller, but HOW MUCH LONGER WHILE IT TAKE TO GET HIS sh*t TOGETHER??

Im starting to think all this talk about his abilities is bull.

If he is rushed, then he is working out his kinks at the major league level. Which means he may be giving up more runs than if he was in the minors. So if he is having a bad outing in the minors, maybe he learns how to get out of jams easier because he can "experiment" more and not have it bite him in the ass as much (as in, if he misses with a pitch in the minors, the batter may not be able to capitalize on it).

Also, I believe, depending on how highly the prospect is, he may get more attention from the coaches. Right now Wiley has his hands full with Volstad, whoever the 5th starter will be this week (Vandy this time) and Miller.

And, of course, confidence. You spend a few years in the minors and absolutely dominate, when you are up in the bigs, you are going to play better. Conversely, if you play poorly in the majors, you may never recover and always have a thing. You may begin to personally believe that you can't beat the other guy.

In other words, think of the minors as college and the majors as a steady job. The minors are set up to mold raw talent, and the majors are meant to utilize that talent. Sure, you may get "on-the-job" training, but if you are really struggling, either you are sent back to college or sent home. Miller, right now, may be considered a "sophomore," and been graduated too early.

Thanks for clearing it up. What's your take on West? I think he might have been called up too soon as well.

West probably was called up to soon. But he wasn't horrible and the FO did the right thing and sent him back down.

I don't think Miller will see an extended time in the minors this season or next. In part because the FO doesn't want to lose face and send him down and give off the appearance that the Cabrera/Willis trade didn't pan out yet. But I believe he needs steady work where he can accumulate more wins than loses.

All the Miller bashing is deserved right now, but just wanted to remind everyone that we didn't score a single run.

I absolutely think we need offensive help over bullpen help if we're buyers at the trade deadline. But I'm really sick of Miller, and that stood out to me more than the offense's ineffectiveness today.

Can we please fire someone?

I vote Presley, 4th time being shutout in the month of July, can't score to win extra innings game and can't push across a run with the bases juiced and no outs. I can't beleive after all the crap Bill Robinson took around here that Presley isn't A#1 on everyones hit list.

Also Miller needs to learn how to pitch, send him to AAA and give the Hopper or West his spot.

West? The same Sean West that was sent down because of how poorly he was pitching?

The one that pitches about as piss poor as Miller, yeah that West, who despite pitching less than Miller has the same amount of wins, yeah that West. Who by the way I'm not ardently in love with, or worship, or feel obliged to take up his defense for every piece of crap turn on the mound he delivers. IMO he would give the Marlins a better chance to win than Miller. I usually don't think "oh crap! West is pitching the boys are going lose today", unlike Miller whom I dread to see that 5th day roll around. Fine you don't like West but you would have to agree the FO needs to get someone in Miller's spot.

Sean West has been terrible, while Andrew Miller hasn't. He's had two bad starts, so calm down. Wins don't measure a thing when it comes to pitchers.

Apparently, you haven't been paying much attention in West's starts, or Miller's for that matter. How can you trust West more than Miller?

I've been saying fire presley for months.

Ditto. Actually, I predicted he would be gone after last season. The only reason he has kept the job is because of the offensive records the team has set under his reign. But unable to adjust to slow tossing lefties or get runners accross the plate when we have RISP and less than 2 outs is something that hasn't changed. It's heartbreaking.

I'm not a finger pointer or look to push blame at every opportunity, but this is something that really should have been addressed long ago.

if we fired pressley who would are hitting coach be?

Well, we have three pretty good hitters as special assistants in the front office right now. Doesn't mean they'd make good coaches, but there's only one way to find out.

The big question is, would they want to. A special assistant is usually someone that wants to stay in the game but dosen't want to spend all the time it takes to be a member of the team. It's understandable. They have spent a majority of their life away from their families, want to spend more time with them, but still love the game enough to want to be a part of it.

Just seems like Miller is still struggling at times with this new delivery. His release point didn't look consistent Sunday. And his concentration seemed to waver at times also. Like walking Happ and then giving up those runs. I like West for the future, but Miller is the guy to be on the team right now instead of him. Andrew will continue to get the work in and the instruction at this level. Whether that is good or bad............

I still think Miller was not the centerpiece of that trade, but Maybin was. You can't judge that trade until we see what Maybin can really do.

The Marlins saved around 10 million annually by trading future HOF Cabrera for Badenhop. They also saved about 5 million (I don't know exactly how much) by trading Willingham and Olsen for Bonifacio. I believe if the Marlins had Willingham playing instead of Bonifacio they'd be at least 6 over .500. But given that the objective was to save money were these deals bad?

We hardly traded Cabrera for Badenhop.

I didn't mention Miller because he has actually lost more games than he has won and Maybin has not contributed at all. The point is that the Marlins have a limited budget which affects the team's makeup.

Who cares if he has lost more games then he has won? And maybin is going to be great possibly even up here by the end of the week. Miller is going to be a very good top of the rotation starter. Of course you wont win a deal when you give up a hall of famer like miggy, but we didnt give him up for nothing.

He seems flimsy to me. One can often tell whether Miller's going to have a good or bad game in the first inning. He usually lets out some sort of a sigh or a look of despair to the catcher. Look closely and you'll see it lol, it's actually pretty alarming to see a pitcher do that. He's too inconsistent.

Once again, he is a young pitcher who has great stuff, he just has to put it together at the major league level. I would love to get him 2-3 months in aaa to get him some more seasoning but it doesnt look like the f.o. agrees with me. And i can tell when he is going to have a good/bad outing as well, and thats a sign of a guy who needs more minor league time. Either way he will be a very good ml pitcher

I actually like what bonifacio hass done for the past couple weeks or so. For him, its all about getting on base, when he does that we are hard to beat.

Miller is not the same prospect he once was because of all the tinkering/adjustments.

He's no longer the guy that was projected to be a future ace. He doesn't throw nearly as hard as he used to, when scouts compared him to Randy Johnson. Hopefully he turns into a good middle of the rotation guy.

I was going to mention Ricky too, but he, in general, has been a lot better and consistent since he came back from the minors. Which is another good reason to try Miller there.

His Fastball has lost some velocity, but he still has great stuff, IMO. And he is only 24 years old, so he can still be a top of the rotation starter.

This. He still has all the potential to be a top of the rotation guy for this team but he still doesn't seem in sync mechanically yet.
