Marlins lose. Whatever, win tomorrow.

Slight overreaction.

The San Diego series told me everything I needed to know

1 run doesn't do it. They just beat our ace with the bottom of their rotation.

2 runs, actually.

you're right...times 38.. CANT I VENT IN PEACE RAB!?!?!?! :p

Marlins Baseball, where taking a fastball down the middle for strike three is acceptable.

almost as bad as grounding out on a 3-0 pitch with 2 runners on.

I gotta agree, that San Diego series told us alot about the current state of this team.

whatever. only 4 games back with a MONTH to go. not time to overreact.

I wouldn't call it overreacting with the current state of our starting rotation. The team hit over .300 in the month and ended up with a .500 record. :|

Exactly. If our pitchers can't find a groove, then I don't think we have a chance. And also the Rockies , Giants and Braves would both have to play worse then we are right now, which doesn't exactly strike me as something that has a good chance of happening. Marlins for 2012 WS Champs!

They had one hard hit ball in that inning against JJ. Talk about a tough luck loss.

I was only able to watch the first few innings of the game and JJ looked great so what happened? I believe he hadn't even given up a hit either.

There are three teams in front of the Marlins for the wild card, and the Cubs right behind them. The probability of them making the playoffs is probably around 2 percent.

Another great example of how important good pitching is.

I agree that the SD series was probably the summary of this team for the entire season, but especially August. We still had a better August than we did last year.

Offense couldn't score. JJ had a rough 7th, and the Braves got enough runs across to seal the deal - btw, he gave up his 1st hit in the 6th.

And this interesting comment from Dan Uggla after the game.......

"There's no sense of urgency,'' Uggla said. ``There's still time, there's still a lot of games left. We're all calm and relaxed and I'm pretty sure we're going to stay that way.''

They need to have urgency and find it now.....I just became a fan of shipping Uggla somewhere else after the season. I will not cry if he is gone. That is not a champions way of thinking.

The last thing I'd want is for guys to press. What does urgency bring? The only thing they can do is go out day to day and perform at the best of their abilities. Do you think Uggla is slacking off?

Ah, Mr. "see ball, hit ball" has never been known for his intellectual depth. I certainly don't think he (or anyone else) is slacking off, but thinking that having no sense of urgency at all is OK is denying reality.

They are what they are, a little above average, and certainly anything can happen. The problem is that the odds of anything good happening are rapidly diminishing by the day. Which is nothing that a 10-game win streak won't cure, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I agree with Nny that urgency tends to not bring good things. I'd expect more wild pitches, pop-ups, etc. if players are truly pressing. On the other hand, if they can bring added excitement and passion (because they know they are in the thick of a playoff race (although paid professionals really should play with the utmost passion every day anyway)), then that's cool, although the line between those is admittedly quite blurry.

THIS IS NOT A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM

even if they did make the playoffs, IF. there is NO f***ING WAY they'd get past the first round.

Hahahaha. Man, I almost love Danny's "approach" sometimes. He's the first one to admit how shallow headed it is too. (Though he might not phrase it in such a way.)
