November 16, 200916 yr He becomes the 3rd Marlin to take home the award joining Dontrelle Willis and Hanley Ramirez. Well deserved. Congrats Chris!
November 16, 200916 yr All is right in the world. :thumbup 1st 2nd 3rd Points Chris Coghlan, Florida Marlins 17 6 2 105 J.A. Happ, Philadelphia Phillies 10 11 11 94 Tommy Hanson, Atlanta Braves 2 6 9 37 Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates 2 5 0 25 Casey McGehee, Milwaukee Brewers 1 3 4 18 Randy Wells, Chicago Cubs 1 3 Garret Jones, Pittsburgh Pirates 2 2 Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres 1 1 Dexter Fowler, Colorado Rockies 1 1 Gerardo Parra, Arizona Diamondbacks 1 1 Colby Rasmus, St. Louis Cardinals 1 1 Yuck, sorry about the format. I think Hanson deserved second place much more than Happ did.
November 16, 200916 yr Does this mean Fredi will win Mgr of the Year? The last two times a Marlin won ROY, the Mgr won the award too! Way to go Chris!!!
November 16, 200916 yr Man, I knew that they'd announce it while I was in my car, so I pointed my cellphone browser at MLB.COM and was driving with my phone pressed up against my ear. Twas a good moment. WHOOP CC!
November 16, 200916 yr Congrats to chris on this wonderful achievement. The experiment of turning an infielder/middle of the order hitter to an outfielder/leadoff guy worked!! Great job by all involved also
November 16, 200916 yr Have they been able to squeeze it in on 790 between dissecting route patterns for the Dolphins new tight end? :brigginbounce Fabulous news!!! Speaks well of this organization on a number of levels. It really made baseball exciting this September watching him adding on night after night. Going to be interesting to see how the lineup is constructed when all the moves have been made and pieces assembled. I know I'm in the minority but I hope he stays in the outfield in 2010 although his arm strength is somewhat problematic. But if the FO was smart enough to bring the guy up in the first place I think it might be wise to defer to them when it comes to determining where he fits in defensively.

That sounds WAY more like 560. Heh, I remember during the trade deadline, after we got NJ, 790 was talking about him (somewhat) and 560 was talking about what the loss of Vonnie Holliday was going to mean to the Dolphins. Mind you this was in July. Though, we all know they don't talk about sports on 790.
November 16, 200916 yr This news made my day!! Take that, Philly fans! lol Chris Coghlan of the Florida Marlins is the NL Rookie of The Year!! That's music to my ears!
November 16, 200916 yr Congrats Cogs! Didn't think he had a chance to win it since the media doesn't pay any attention to the Marlins, but looks like they're smarter then we thought. Chris will be on 790 later today for those that are interested.
November 16, 200916 yr Yes this is great!!! 2003: Willis 2006: Ramirez 2009: Coghlan 2012: Skipworth/Dominguez/James/??? I am surprised that CC wasn't on everybody's ballot. Only Happ was. I guess I could see someone taking McCutchen/Happ/Hanson instead of Coghlan, but I am glad enough people aren't that ignorant. Again, CC deserved it and lets hope he continues his hot hitting into 2010!
November 16, 200916 yr Man, all those number freaks had me scared that CC wasn't gonna get the award because of some obscure metric. I'm happy that the city he plays for didn't bury his chances.
November 16, 200916 yr As if we needed ROY to point out what kind of fans they have in Philly... "It stinks that he (J.A. Happ) didn’t get it, but who really cares if he was given a trophy that is worthless." http://bleacherreport.com/users/103899-Tom-Dougherty
November 16, 200916 yr I got the MLB text during class and disrupted everyone around me in my joy! I was rooting for both Cogs and Bailey! Too exciting!
