I'd like to see:

1. Coghlan

2. Morrison

3. Hanley

4. Uggla

5. Stanton

6. Gaby

7. Maybin

8. Baker

9. Pitcher

Morrison mashes lefties anyways, so while we'd be putting 2 lefties together, one of their splits resembles that of a righty. Honestly, Morrison and his patience needs to be at the top of the order and I'm just not comfortable putting Coghlan anywhere lower than 2.

I think we should embrace the idea of Coghlan moving further down the lineup.

If everyone in that lineup hits around their potential, Coghlan is either the 7th or 8th best hitter (he only may top the catcher duo, but even that's debatable). And that's no knock on Coghlan.

But he's not better than Uggla or Hanley. Right now he's not better than Gaby. And at their "potentials," he's also not better than Stanton, Morrison, or Maybin.

Maybin belongs atop this lineup if he can handle it IMO.

3 pages of discussion and not a post about our catching situation ? To me that is one of the weakest areas. Baker is decent with the bat, but isn't his defense a bit on the poor side ? It seems he doesn't throw out enough guys. And Paulino's bat is just too weak (4 HR's is not enough power - we need someone that will hit at least .270 & 15 HR's), and is the FO happy with him ? 50 game suspension couldn't have made them all giggly inside. Someone probably will have some statistics to screw up my ideas, but on the surface, without researching it, our catching situation needs to be examined.

and while I posted about the catching situation, how is Skipworth progressing ? Any better news about his bat ? The last I saw, about a year ago I think he was hitting like in the low 200's and that was in Single A.

He just got promoted to AA

When you're a first round draft pick, you get promoted even if you have 19 passed balls. He didn't even catch all the time, as he often DH'd. He's young but he's a long way from the show.

Coghlan and Gaby are going to end up being trade bait if Dominguez is the real deal.

And soon rather than later if Boni continues to play at his current level.

I think that things are changing rapidly as far as the lineup is concerned. Everyone can agree that the bullpen needs major work and the starting pitching needs some minor work. I don't think we should lockup Nolasco. We should wait it out for the next two years. Uggla needs to be traded for pitching. His defense is average and his bat can be replaced by Stanton. We should move Boni in the starting lineup at 2B. Or move CC to 2B. I know a lot of people hate Boni but it seems like he's coming around. Fact is, we don't have the money to spend on Uggla when our pitching needs major help if we are going to do anything. Plus it may free up the money we need to lockup Anibal and later Nolasco. Who else do we have that we can move and get as good of value for? CC is hurt. He's not going to be traded, besides he's young and damn good. Gaby? Maybe, but who will replace him? And what are we going to get for him? Boni? Not a chance and we wouldn't get anything for him. Same for Maybin.

UGH ! Man I wish they didn't wiff so often on 1st's. Oh well lets all give the kid positive energy and thoughts and maybe he'll surprise us in 2011. We will need him for 2012 !

first off....mike stanton cannot replace uggla's production becuase if you start bonidacio, its bonifacio who is not going to replace ugglas production.

the lineup we have next year:

coghlan

morrison

ramirez

uggla

sanchez

maybin

catcher

pitcher

this ia a very solid lineup and bonifacio and murphy coming off the bench is even better. There is aboslutely no reason to trade anyone besides fixing up the bullpen, rotation, and catcher. No one plays as hard as uggla and wants to win as much as he does and you cant replace that. you guys talk like uggla is doing something wrong.

our 24 blown saves and injuries did us in.

I agree. So many of the posters here think Uggla is utterly useless, and that couldn't be more wrong. He is the heart and soul of the team. His production has saved many a game for us, just this year alone. If we don't have Uggla I believe we would be 5 games below .500.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to get rid of Uggla and I don't think he's a horrible player. I think that he can be moved for salary reasons and get us some good players in return. We could survive without him and not be as bad as some think.

Not to be a dick but that's only 8 players in the lineup and you included the pitcher.

I love the Lineup of

Coghlan

Logan

Hanley

Uggla

Gaby/Stanton

Stanton/Gaby

Maybin

Catcher

Pitcher

Being promoted to AA is not based on merit in this organization.

i think uggla has to stay. not only is he the heart and soul of the team but he's one of the best 2nd baseman in baseball. i think we take him for granted sometimes. hanley has made some strides but he seems to be lacking the leadership traits that uggla possesses. u don't just trade away a player of his skill set for fill-in bullpen arms

Skipworth was promoted to AA because Hatcher was promoted to the Majors, and the Suns needed a second catcher. He will very very likely be in Jupiter next season.

No, I ain't saying Sanibia be #2, his name popped up in head before others.

That's the same team.

I really do have good expectations of the bullpen next year.

If healthy I like the core of Badenhop, Ceda(has the stuff just needs to work things out), Sanches, Ohman/Other LOOGY, Buente (I think the kid could be decent), Leo, Clay and a FA Pitcher. You can also throw in Marinez, Leroux (don't like him) and Miller in the race to win a spot.

My main goal is to sign a shutdown 7th or 8th inning guy and hope Clay can continue his success next season and take over as closer.

Starting Pitching and Catcher are my only serious concerns besides signing a good FA Reliever.

J.J., Ricky and Anibal are pretty much locks for the rotation.

That leaves Volstad, Sanabia, West, Kohler, Villanueva and Miller fighting for the last two spots and a spot on the active roster.

My best guesses are Sanabia and West take over the 4th and 5th spots in the roatation but I'd love to try to trade Volstad or West(along with another player) for a proven top of the rotation stater.

Pitching will pretty much make or break us next season and I believe it's important to make a stand for a playoff spot next year being the last season before the New Stadium opens.

Hope the F.O. makes smart moves and gets this team where it needs to be to make a serious run for baseball in October.

IN BEINFEST WE TRUST!

We need another starter with a mid 3's ERA. Our bullpen will be fine, I would think, and we could easily scratch someone out that'll compete with all the other #5 starters in the league. The problem is that 4th guy. If that 4th starter is Ricky Nolasco, then we are in great shape.

JJ, _____, Anibal, Ricky, Sanabia/West/Miller/Volstad.

Honestly, just spend another damn 5-10 Mil and get us a #2 pitcher. We don't exactly need 2 15M/year guys or anything. We have the best value lineup in the majors, we just need that damn pitcher.
