Stanton hurt. Vasquez hurt. Cogs hurt. Anibal hurt.

JJ, Ricky, Volstad all look terrible.

Hensley and Mujica look bad, Choate and Dunn look worse.

West same old slug. James is helpless.

Best pitching is by two guys who won't make the ml roster.

Defense sucks, Hanley has FIVE errors.

Hopefully, everything will turn around in the last two weeks before opening day.

Hope is a wonderful thing.

Is there a way we can move Dominguez to SS, and Stanton to CF? We don't have that many good defenders on this team so I want my best defensive players playing 2 of the most important positions.

Yes because if they don't turn it around before the season starts, all hope is lost.

I will hate to be around here if the team starts the regular season slow.

I Just Believe all these things are one scene of candid camera for WC.

Only one thing is concerned.

No one cut a conspicuous figure, between pitchers and hitters.

You're baaacckkkkk

I think it would help if the starters were actually starting in more back to back to back games. We've been to 3 games and haven't seen our complete starting IF play in any of them. With a new defensive scheme in place they need to gel as a unit. The OF is understandable with Cogs coming off surgery and Stanton hurt, but there is nothing wrong with the IFers starting games even if they only go 3 or 4 innings.

Was thinking the same thing. Is Edwin babying the starters because Stanton got hurt early?

Good call

Rodriguez's plan, though, is not without some concern. He admits he is worried about his players getting burned out if they start increasing their workload now.

:lol

Poor babies. they're playing baseball, fer chrissakes. Workload?

Get real. They play about 200 days a year for 3 hours a day. Most of which time is spent standing around waiting for something to happen or sitting in the dugout or bullpen.

So far, we know that Edwin routinely lies about injuries (Sanabia, for instance) and now he's worried about burn-out? In spring training?

This is the first thing that has me concerned about this season. I'm perfectly willing to discount a bunch of games where rarely is an inning pitched by anyone who will start the season, where Buck isn't catching, where Dominguez isn't at 3B, and where the entire outfield is manned by scrubs, most of whom won't be on the 25-man roster.

Yeah, yeah, the 162 game season is a grind and it takes its toll on everyone. But, when the manager starts blathering about "burnout" in March I start to wonder whether he has any clue about the job he's supposed to do.

It's absolutely understandable that the starters are performing poorly based on the day on, day off routine. If anyone here plays golf, as I do, then you know that if you only play at the weekends it can mean great inconsistency, whereas if you get 3 or 4 times a week, you do start performing better.

Maybe Edwin just understands that Spring Training is rather irrelevant, and you're just one of the many fans already overreacting.

The starters will start playing more regularly, now that cuts are already being made.

i was going talk about this topic i watching game vs rays and other on dvr because i was at work only one game their play well other starting pitching was bad i saw alot error done by defensive and hitting have gone on spring break this not the way we would like see team go toward last weeks of spring training games can someone wake them up ???? or we could start season 2-7

Overreacting?

I don't think so. Just reacting to idiocy. Maybe Edwin and the beat guys decided that they needed something to talk and write about.

"We literally have nothing else to talk about!"

I don't see the idiocy in the comments.

There are very few spots on the team that are open. The starters are well-known, for the most part.

No team really throws their guys out there all-out from the get-go in Spring Training, so I'm not sure why you're so shocked with this apparent "idiocy."

Well, we're not at the get-go, we're half way through. He's talking about being worried about burnout if they start playing more now. They're going to play more now, regardless. The entire thing is ridiculous.

on the bright side, Volstad looked better yesterday. :thumbup

The Rangers 2010 Spring Training record was 10-19

apparently on the "burnout" issue, a few guys weren't slated to play today - I think Hanley, Gaby, and Infante maybe. They went to Edwin and said "we want to play today" and are in the lineup now. So there you are.

And Hanley and Infante made errors in the same inning leading to a run.

I'd rather Hanley and Infante both be in there, getting their reps in and working out those errors now than them sitting on the bench and expecting to have it all click on April 1st

Well, I'd rather they both be in there and making great defensive plays and playing errorless ball.

So unless every game is played perfectly, you'll find something to complain about.

DID YOU SEE THE WAY HANLEY HAD HIS SHOES TIED? What a disgrace.
