wow if that figure is right then I feel like we're bidding against ourselves. the 7th year option is pretty crazy but at least there is a 5 million buyout. I don't think we should offer anything over 6 years 100 million, but i'm not gonna be upset if he signs for 6 years 111 million. I just want us to have money to sign cj wilson or buerhle

Here's the list of highest annual MLB salaries. 6 years/$105MM comes out to $17.5MM per year, which be 19th in the league. And it would almost assuredly be 21st after Fielder and Pujols sign. It's not that outrageous an amount, we've just never experienced anything remotely like it.
