December 2, 201114 yr Lol, if we sign Reyes the Mets will only receive our 3rd round pick. They can have it wrapped neatly in a little box. Give me Reyes. Lol
December 2, 201114 yr Author Hopefully that 3rd round pick is equivalent to Chris Aguila (also a 3rd round pick).
December 2, 201114 yr Apparently Jose Reyes is cutting his dreads right now. That should be a good sign, no?
December 3, 201114 yr Part of me is sad to see Jose inching closer to the door, part of me is relieved the Mets aren't going to be on the hook for 90 Million dollars after he spent two stints on the DL for his hamstring last year alone. Great kid, love watching him play the game but boy is that like playing Russian Roulette with a 90 Million dollar bullet
December 3, 201114 yr i really dont see why reyes would want to stay with the mets besides not wanting to leave his comfort zone or we offer less money.
December 3, 201114 yr Man if we end up with Aramis after all this BS, Im going to be pissed. Well, obviously it would be disappointing not to get Reyes but ARam would be a nice consolation prize We're talking about competing with the Phillies and Braves here, not moving up to third place. A 3-4-5-6 of Hanley, Stanton, ARam and Morrison is better than both of the Phillies and Braves Just sayin A line-up of Reyes-Boni-Hanley-Stanton-Morrison/Gaby is even better. Throw in Cespedes and I think you have the best line-up in MLB. That's assuming Boni performs close to the same as last year and Hanely gets back to his dominant self. I believe if Reyes is signed, either Gaby or Morrison is packaged with Nolasco or whomever to bring back top end SP.
December 3, 201114 yr If we end up with Aramis Ramirez instead of José Reyes, that will be the same old Marlins. Nothing has really changed. what is the same old marlins? Worried about money more than winning. Reyes gives you a real star of the game. A. Ramirez does not give you anything to get excited about. Same old Marlins, trying to do everything on the cheap. Look you want to play with the big boys then you need to dole out big boy contracts. If you don't then don't put on a dog & pony show like they did on 11/11 and tell everyone this is a new begininng. Because this is sounding much like that same old crap from the last 6 years. Uh, Aramis Ramirez is not going to be cheap. This has nothing to do with money. Absolutely it does. Reyes wants guaranteed multiple years, like 6 years. Ramirez we might be able to get on a 2 year deal. This is about not tying up money. But its the chance you take if you want to be one of the big boys. If you can't do it, then don't put on an act and invite people to showoff the stadium to that you are not really serious about signing. It makes it look more and more like you are just doing it to sell tickets right now, which is very shortsighted. I thought it was supposed to be a new Marlins franchise. This makes them look just like the old franchise. We shouldn't expect any different, leopards can't change their spots, and Loria can't stop being who he is.
December 3, 201114 yr Neither. He lives in a cave. A troll cave. Go now, crawl back into it. Name calling, its so juvenile. I guess you would be one of the people blaming Bartman too ?

You are so silly. We just gave Heath f***ing Bell 3 years/27 million to pitch 60-70 innings per year, and you still think the team is just being cheap. I don't get it.

Dude, an NL GM said that a bunch of other teams were SCARED OFF BY THE MARLINS' OFFER. They are super serious about Reyes. I don't know how much more clear the Marlinz can be.
December 3, 201114 yr Someone will give Ramirez three years at a minimum. He might get four. The only player the Marlins probably aren't "serious" about is Pujols. Everyone else is in play.
December 4, 201114 yr Brewers' GM To Meet With Reyes' Agents By Steve Adams [December 4, 2011 at 2:31pm CST] Brewers general manager Doug Melvin will meet with the agents for Jose Reyes this coming week at the Winter Meetings, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman (via Twitter). Reyes' main suitor this offseason has been the suddenly free-spending Marlins, who have a reported offer of six years and perhaps as much as $90MM on the table to lure Reyes to Miami. Recently, it's been said that Reyes may be down to only the Marlins and the Mets, but he figures to be a popular topic of discussion throughout the Winter Meetings. Reyes captured his first batting title in his age-28 season by hitting .337/.384/.493. He stole 39 bases and led the league with 16 triples despite hitting the disabled list two different times with hamstring injuries. MLBTR
December 4, 201114 yr WellI guess were not getting a quick answer before meetings now unless we throw something crazy at him.
