Hanley not so nice about Marlins in OC Register article

Featured Replies

Ehhhh...I'm not happy with Loria, sooo...

Hanley wore out his welcome here. Even if he wins the triple crown the next five years in a row, he still wasnt performing like that here. He needed to be gone. He wasnt doing anything for us. For us, Hanley was an overpaid, less than mediocre, drama queen. I do wish we wouldve cashed in a little better on him than we did though.

"And, going into Tuesday, Ramirez had driven in 28 runs in 25 Dodgers games with a .464 average with men in scoring position."

How about " I am going to suck but you should all still come out and cheer for me". We heard the same parting shots from Uggla, who now plays in front of 16-18000 on many weekdays on a good Atlanta team-maybe that is why he is hitting .208 today-because of the lack of noise. I thought Uggla is hittling that low because he is missing the ball.

How serious is all that crap in the article, how could Hanley possibly complain about attendance in 2012, all these factors do not exist this year and he still SUCKED. We were all waiting to embrace him and cheer for him. Personally, I think he got way to little booing for how bad he was.

Sounds fine to me as well. The only thing that bothered me was this.

"Here, it's effortless," he said. "I don't feel like I have to try to hit the ball 500 feet. You just hit it hard and it's going to go out. It's way better, I like it."

No Hanley dammit, you DON'T have to hit it 500 ft. Just 380-420. Or how about some singles and doubles. I felt like he swung WAAAYYYY too many times like how he's thinking above.

i didn't get much animosity from the article. he likes to play in front of a ton of cheering fans...what player doesn't?

Even the ones in LA that arrive late and leave early...

It sounds more like Treanor had all the "bad" things to say

Yeah I didn't think there was anything bad. Nice article.

It sucks to play baseball in Miami for more than one reason - all Hanley and Treanor did was illuminate the attendance problem.

Not a bad article at all ...... didn't put down miami a bit

He did play in a football stadium - he did feel like needed to hit the ball extra hard - reality is that he didn't/shouldn't and trying to be a power slugger in a pitchers park isn't the best move for him .... it's still a legit statement and from reading it sounds pretty much like someone asked him a question about if it was easier to hit in dodger stadium

He also felt energized by the loud crowds they're having during a playoff run ... he didn't say anything bad about the marlins though, if he did they wouldn't have needed treanor to provide that bit of print

Yea and I even pointed that out when we played the braves. A bad night for the marlins is like 23,000 during the week and yet the braves have 17-18 thousand. So I hope uggla feels good about that.

As for Hanley. Whatever. Ok LA had 57,000 seats and believe me I've seen plenty of half empty dodger games.

Not saying Marlins attendance didn't suck at Sun Life but fans in LA are just as fair weather. When the dodgers sucked so did the attendance and the clippers are the perfect example as well.

Um. The Dodgers are one of the best drawing teams of the last ten years. 2005 was probably their worst season record wise and they were still 2nd in all of baseball for attendance.

It's a huge market there in LA, but their fans are pretty good at coming out. To compare them to Marlins fans is silly.

The dodgers do have a very big fan base but I've seen many games where ticket sales don't match actually attendance by a lot.

But either way I also wanted to point out that another team that doesn't draw as well as you might think is the white sox. They are in first place and tonight against the Yankees only drew 26,319. 24,481 is their average.

I'm not sure how you can get an accurate count of the gate attendance just by watching games on TV, especially considering how huge that place is. The bottom line is that the Dodgers fanbase has been one of the best in baseball in attendance. That's nothing like the Marlins situation.

The problem with the White Sox I think is that their ticket prices are way too high. They have a horrible upper deck and they charge a lot for those seats. I remember reading that their average ticket price is in the top five for most expensive in baseball.

Actually, the White Sox aren't that bad.

The Marlins are an average ticket price of $29.62 while the White Sox sit at $29.00.

The White Sox are 10th or 11th, behind teams such as the Marlins, Nationals, Twins, Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, Phillies, Cardinals and Astros.

The Dodgers are $23.22 and the Angels are at $19.71.

The White Sox tickets aren't too high. They White Sox just arent the biggest show in town and it's reflected in attendence.

Sidenote: I find it comical some of the most expensive tickets in baseball are the worst teams in baseball. If I looked at it right the Astros are 6th in highest price.
