Good teams don't have a 1, a 2, a 3, a 4, and a 5. They have something like a 1, two 2s, a 3 and a 4.

You sank my Battleship

I think that was the first big hit from Stanton close and late in months, maybe more.

I think probably since that home run in the bottom of the 8th earlier in the year against the Phillies.

Previously lots of teams, include Marlins, was interesting to Tim Lincecum. He pitched tonight for LAA, first time.

He went just 3 inning-pitched, allowed 7 hits, 4 runs(4er), 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Nothing impressive.

His fastball velocity hit just 88-89 miles maximum.

Stanton up to .216 now. Sounds crazy to say "up" to .216, but he was around .190 not long ago. He's starting to come out of it.

Tonight was his second start. His first start was actually pretty good.

Obviously we're no more culture of losing, because if we're still be the culture of losing then former Marlins Coghlan would hit a grand slam in the 9th inning.

coghlan is like a turd that wont flush...he never did anything for the Marlins, and he wont do anything for the freaking cubs. Why he is in the Majors boggles the mind

He only beat out McCutchen for the rookie of the year with us.

He actually had an amazing first outing. This was just his first at home. His first outing was in Oakland. I think he only allowed like 1 run.

So Chen completely redeems himself by having one non-train wreck game?

Fuck that. He still sucks. Let me see him string together a few good games.

Great win. Winning this series would be HUGH.

Tell that to the royals last year and the year before. It depends how your team is structured. We can definitely compete with a 1,2,3,4,5 right now even if optimistic we have a 1,2,3,4, and 8

I don't think Chen has completely redeemed himself but his velocity was up and pitch location was vastly improved. It's a positive going forward and hopefully he can string together more good games.

What about 2009?

I don't agree with the bad mouthing of Coghlan. He's had a couple of good years with the Cubs, 2014 and 2015, in addition to what he did for us the first couple of years. Can't take what he did in 2009 away from him.

Yup the one that @Edmeister dropped. Sorry, couldn't resist.  :grin-min:

No one said he's redeemed himself. We love the outing he had and are hopeful he can do more of this plus with his entire career before this he's shown he can be successful. Its not like he's a rookie who had one good start after a bad debut month. It's a veteran with a hold start after a bad stretch that came after several seasons of success.

Rizzo has a sore back so he is day to day. No Fowler either. We just gotta keep capitalizing on a team without their some of their best players.

This game was electric. Last time Marlins Park was like that was when the Yankees came to town last year. Great game for the Marlins to stay in it until the end. Stanton had a good bounce back and a game like this is good for his confidence. Yelich, Ozuna, Stanton all did their part and JT got the big hit to make it 4-2.

Chen pitched really well considering he really only allowed that 1 Run. That error that Ozuna allowed shouldn't have happened but he made up for it. Also, big ups to Chen for getting out of the 2nd and 3rd 1 out jam later in the inning. Thought the Cubs were going to score a couple after that.

Apparently the Cubs are bad at hitting in the clutch. Not sure if this is a legitimate stat, it's just something I saw on reddit...

Only Marlins fan (obviously) in a bar full of Cubs fans. Love beating hte Cubbies!

What's fault with him,we give up on him and it's not liked he leaves us for big money,if not for that stupid injure who knows what he could do for us ?

I actually think coghlan is a good player and we dodged a bullet by him striking out. im just glad we are talking about a game we won. if phelps pitched vs. any of the nl east we likely would have lost. that said, I don't want him anywhere near the Atlanta and mets series coming up.

Definitely interesting. I had no idea.

They are 20th in batting avg with RISP and 2 out. Miami is 14th, Mets are dead last

Neifi Ogando who pitched pretty good for us although briefly before going down with a rib fracture is rehabbing in the minors.

He pitched last night for Florida State League.
