New Logo Coming

Featured Replies

Man this guy Jeff is so clever! How creative and original for this guy to make a joke about Jeter turning the Marlins into the Yankees! How can we get this guy to sign up here? We could use a guy like him around here!

What's funny about it is I would be thrilled if Jeter turned the Marlins into the Yankees. We would be a perennial playoff contender with deep pockets and phenomenal scouting and talent evaluation.

Like, do these writers really think they are being sly with these jokes?

Yeah I wanna be as successful as the Yankees too. Dare I say, who doesn't want that? But the joke that Jeter is gonna just make a Yankee copy is so over done yet everyone who says it acts like it's so clever.

Totally trivial but anyone ever notice that clearly broken Miami logo in the top tweet? There's a piece missing in the mouth of the fish and that erroneous logo has been used in so many places it drives me crazy.

Maybe that’s the new logo.

I know a lot of people don’t like it but I really don’t have a problem. Let’s see what they come up with.

Does anyone else like the current logo and uniforms?

nope... not a fan

At least they’re not bringing back teal.  Let’s see what they come up with.  It could be the most exciting part of 2019.

So this is what I am thinking. The Marlins absolutely have to nail this logo change. Like really nail it. I read Andy Slator’s thing where there will be blue in the new logo. Does everyone remember the 2017 World Baseball Classic at Marlins Park? They changed the walls from Lime Green to Blue. I thought it was dope because the blue walls matched the blue seats. So, I am thinking Jeter will match the blue seats and turn the wall from lime green to blue to match the new blue logo/jersey. That is smart af. I love that. Have the blue logo that matches the blue walls that matches the blue seats. Love it!

I would love this. The blue walls during the WBC looked great.

I’m glad you remember what I am talking about. The blue walls would look so much better than the Lime Green. ?

There may be concern that blue is too Metsy.  How close are the Red Sox and Yankees shades of navy blue?   Perhaps a blue primary paired with different secondary is enough to distinguish ourselves from other blue teams

edit: uniform experts.  Is this link a legit one?  If so it would answer the question According to this they’re identical

The Marlins current blue is different than every other blue in MLB. It's not a royal blue, it's a light blue but richer and more saturated than the powder blue of teams like the Rays and Royals. It would be wonderful as our primary color because it would be unique as well as still traditional enough and not as loud as our orange was.

To the best of my knowledge the Yankees and Red Sox use the same shade of navy, a dark navy normally called Midnight Navy.

That link seems pretty legit. If anything I'd only question if it's updated for recent changes in shades such as the Rockies purple and the Braves yellow which have been updated fairly recently.

Interesting but unlikely. That's the Mets color scheme and Jeter dislikes orange which is why the orange jersey was dropped and the color was drastically scaled back on this past season. Notice the logo used on the team's social media pages and on the flag Billy waved after home wins the logo was black and white with no orange.

Also the Marlins shade of blue is very different.

Jeter is likely looking for something unique yet simple while not being loud and obnoxious. This also lends itself to why Jeter wants the home run sculpture gone for the same season that the new uniforms will be worn. They likely go hand in hand.

Yeah I expect a very traditional logo and very little orange or even no orange. I can see orange as an accent color as it was in the original circle logo (baseball seams), but it also wouldn't surprise me if it is completely gone.

You know I only realized somewhat recently that the original logo baseball seams were orange? I always thought they were red. I blame it on low quality imagery on TV and the fact that it wasnt used on the uniforms at all for so long. Ask anyone if orange was a Marlins color since 1991 and they'll say no but it sure was.

Yeah and that's one reason I can see it remaining in some capacity. It has been there since the beginning, it just needs to be scaled back.

It has dates on the Braves and Rockies pages which suggest it is current.  I like the marlins blue on its own but I don’t like how it looks paired with the other colors in the current scheme.  The players weekend stuff that featured blue wasn’t attractive to me.  It is a bit like the Tennessee Lady Vols scheme. I’m going to play with the pallet and see what compliments that blue.  You could even do that blue as the primary with teal and silver as secondary colors

Here’s a quick side by side.  I grabbed some samples across the blue spectrum along with the current Marlins blue and the old Florida Marlins teal.  While there are tons of blue teams there are a lot of variations to the blue, although you do have some like the Red Sox and Yankees which match.  Nobody wants to look like a rival so I highly doubt any designer is proposing an orange and blue combination (not to mention you may alienate a large portion of the fanbase that doesn’t care for the Florida Gators).

The secondary color choice is going to make a massive impact.  The Miami Dolphins color change this past spring is a perfect example of how taking out poor secondary colors can improve an overall look.  Just looking at teal alongside any shade of blue makes me think that teal should not be paired with blue

Go with a shade of silver as the secondary color.

Like the Detroit Lions maybe? I'd dig that if I wasn't so confident black will still be there which makes me think black is the secondary and the silver is a third/accent color, which is fine by me.

That works for me as well.

i want the old kinda teal marlins logo but instead of F just put M.  Seems simplest and people like that color and this will be an updated take on what is probably the most popular logo we've had

Nice work.

If I'm not mistaken there's 6 shades of blue in MLB, not counting teal and minor variations on the blue.

-Royal (Mets/Royals/Cubs/Blue Jays)

-Dark Royal (Rangers/Dodgers)

-Navy (Brewers/Mariners/Rays/Padres/Braves/Astros etc.)

-Midnight Navy (Yankees/Red Sox/Tigers)

-Powder/Columbia Blue (Rays/Royals)

-Ocean Blue (Marlins)

This is going off of threads used for official caps. If you put these caps side by side you'll find these results.
