New Logo Coming

Featured Replies

i want the old kinda teal marlins logo but instead of F just put M.  Seems simplest and people like that color and this will be an updated take on what is probably the most popular logo we've had

I do as well but it appears unlikely to happen. If not teal though, the current blue is a great color and my second choice.

jokes aside, like i said before I hope the Marlins will go the same path the Orioles and Blue jays using an old concept and modernized it , Marlins can't do the Astros mistake or even worse the d-backs or Padres

I hope so as well and I think that's what they are doing. I believe the logo will be more similar to the original logo than the current one. Ocean blue in place of teal and an M instead of an F.

Sounds perfect.

You thinking pinstripes or no?

What did the Astros do wrong? To me they did the same as the Orioles and Blue Jays. Maybe not as successfully (especially as the Blue Jays) but I do like it.

I believe so on the home whites. Not because of Jeter's love for the Yankees, but because they were there on the original look. Though everyone will say it is due to the Yanks.

Fun concept from a graphic designer.

So we got Harper in the next season and apparently this designer didn't like Urena.

Fun for a concept or for a fashion cap. I'd consider this lazy if we actually got this. There needs to be more than just slapping the old colors and old fish on the newer stuff. They need to move forward. They can use successful elements of the past but they can't just go backwards. I'd be furious if they did that.

@Italian Marlins Fan

I took “more blue” to mean just a larger amount of the current blue. Not an entirely new shade of blue.

There was speculation on another site that this change could be a stop-gap, with a bigger change in a few years.  I think it'd be strange for them to rebrand this year, and then in a few years rebrand again? It's going to look like "oh things aren't working, change it again!"

If they're using the same Marlin (which is a disappointment if true.....I don't like the abstract marlin), a "different M" and "more blue" could mean they just removed some of the 'layers' within the M (i.e., the orange and yellow become blue, for a solid blue ring around the white interior).

I for one love those blue unis, and bought one....I've always wanted them to wear them.....I got Stanton put on mine....that was a mistake haha.

#6 would be nice.........when I get home tonight, I'll create another version with the current ocean blue posted earlier in the thread.

... and Jeter dislikes orange which is why the orange jersey was dropped ...

Or maybe he just wants the team to not be associated with "Marlins Man" anymore. Getting rid of the orange jersey while MM still goes around with it would only associate him with the 2012-2018 Marlins, thus the 2019 and beyond Marlins will be good to go.

These people that design concepts and post them online are all really terrible.  The same stuff pops up all the time.  It’s fun I guess.

I had floated the idea of tweaking the way the team implements the current colors and marks for a stopgap and a bunch of you were very convincing in your arguments for why that is a poor idea.  I agree with you all in that regard.  I’m also thinking that perhaps Slater saw something and ran too far with it and in reality nothing is happening next year.

The 2012 branding seemed to try and tee up the chance for merchandising variety which was never fully exploited.  As for on-field garments it works better to streamline and simplify the uniforms.  The Marlins can position themselves to do both.  Go with a simple color palette, like blue and white, and continue using the 1993 uniform in a similar way that the White Sox have used their 80s uniform as their Sunday home.  It provides merch sale opportunities and it also provides a primary home/away set that isn’t overdone with too many colors which were planted in an attempt to give wiggle room down the road.  Heck, I’d even accept a black/white/silver color scheme with the 1993 uniform (unchanged complete with the F hat) used for a home series once a month.

You know, all the conversations that have taken place about the old regime and Loria’s tendency to meddle in business where he didn’t belong got me to thinking.  The rumors all say he affected player moves to a detriment.  The 2012 rebrand most definitely had him meddling in the design team more than he should have.  After all he thinks he knows art.

I wonder if that idiot will still wear the orange after this. If he switches to the new stuff he'll manage to make me dislike him even more.

I know I will buy new jersey, new hat and a few shirts for sure.

Why would you want that? Save up and buy New York, dude.
