As a primary, no. Black bill with the blue there would look nice probably though. I know it’s then no longer inspired by the city look though obviously.

Many want only the other more vibrant colors. I think we need to find the right balance. Our current look is definitely "too black" but I'd be afraid of becoming gaudy with too much of the bright colors.

Are you talking "primary" as in for the city jerseys or primary overall? Either way, no thanks. It's not even the right blue. As others have said a black bill with the right shade of blue would be fine.

I think they just need to scale back the black, emphasize the blue, and use the red sporadically. They definitely need to brighten up their current look which is meant to be vibrant but is only vibrant in certain settings and is actually very dull in most real settings. It's about finding the right balance of each color.

The red should be used as it is now (well before these city ones) - an accent at most. The team has zero history with red (nor did it with orange I guess for that matter), and the "all the flags of locals have red in it" seemed like marketing looking for a reason it was used. I don't mind the pop of red, though, as an accent. I've said it many times - I don't understand why they relegate their most unique color - the blue - to marketing material backgrounds and a BP/ST jersey.

I think their best uniform was 96-01 because it had the right balance of black and teal. 93-95 was too much teal it was gaudy and doesn't age well, and 02-present has so much black that most people are bothered by it. Here's the uniform I love most... All the Marlins need to do to achieve that now is to make the wordmark blue, and preferably add the black front number because it's a great contrast to the wordmark. This allows them to keep the black caps, undershirts, numbers, player names, belts, socks, etc but still have that nice splash of bright blue on the front. Do that on the white and gray jerseys. On the black one make the wordmark and numbers blue as well. Then make an updated blue jersey as an alternate and if they want make a red jersey to be used on special occasions only. Point is they're closer to getting it right than they realize.

I only "recently" realized that we've had orange since day one... the seams on the baseball of our two original logos were orange, a nod to the state of Florida (sunshine and citrus). It wasn't until Loria came around that we actually used the color on our uniforms and marketing materials. Be honest... how many of you hadn't noticed that before???
May 20, 20215 yr Not having any history with red is rather irrelevant. We’re creating a new history now, and I don’t think any team is using this color mix. It’s vibrant, I like it. I hope we sweep the Mets in them.
