May 19, 20224 yr Something that hasn’t been talked about enough is just how bad Jacob Stallings has been. He was supposed to be an upgrade. I’m not even sure if he’s been that.

May 19, 20224 yr his bat has been brutal. but based on last few years it will likely get a little better. defense has been... fine? Not as disappointed as I am with Garcia, but yeesh.

Not as disappointed as I am with Garcia, but yeesh. His framing metrics are below average, as well. And his passed ball streak where he supposedly hasn’t had one in forever is incredibly overrated considering he has at least 2 passed balls this year that the scorekeeper has ruled wild pitches. He’s added nothing to this team surprisingly.
May 19, 20224 yr Author Jorge Alfaro’s 3-run HR against us to win the game is worth more than anything Stallings has done. It still hurts…

May 19, 20224 yr Honestly if a lot of the team was hitting like it should be, Stallings' lack of offense wouldn't be really noticed.

May 19, 20224 yr Jacob Stallings 2022: Career high: strikeout rate. Career low: walk rate, ISO, BABIP, Base Running Value, fWAR, wRC+, Hard Hit %, Barrel %, xBA, Framing Value, Runs Saved Catcher ERA. In other words: Jacob Stallings is having the worst season of his career and it isn't even close.

May 19, 20224 yr Despite not playing every day and always batting at the bottom of the order, Jacob Stallings is 4th on the team in RBI.
May 19, 20224 yr I think he's been much better defensively then the scrubs they had last season. There haven't been as many stupid throws. I think his pitch framing kinda stinks though. I've seen him move his glove way too much on actual strikes which get called as balls likely do to his glove movement. He's only a mid or low .600ops guy for his career with the bat so his offense is expected to be shitty. He's been doing much better though the last couple weeks.
May 19, 20224 yr I would still take Stallings over all three of Alfaro, Wallach and Alex Jackson. Maybe Stallings is having the worst season of his career, but I’ll wait until maybe end of August to completely rule that signing a complete bust. Even if ends up being a terrible season, I’m still taking him over Alfaro, Wallach and Jackson. At least when he’s batting I don’t have that sinking feeling that it’s going to be an almost automatic out like I used to get from Alfaro. 😂

May 21, 20224 yr Our pitching staff is a lot more dominant this year. How much of that success comes from Stallings? Yall being very harsh. Alfaro swung at every pitch and couldn't catch. Sandy Leon could barely hit a pop up. Only good catcher weve had in the last 10+ yrs is Realmuto. I'll take my chances with Stallings.
