Take a page out of the Jeff playbook. If I'm cheap and will only spend $90m dollars on payroll, that's effectively $450m over 5 years..... So let's spend $110m for three seasons ($330m), and if we suck summer of 2025, let's SCORCH EARTH and trade everybody, and then just tank payroll to extremely low levels in a two year rebuild 26-27 to get us back to that $450m number over 5 years and circle 2028 to spend some money again. Count me in for a summer 2025 firesale if it means we get competency on paper 23-25.

That's potentially absurd IMO, and would be *amazing* assuming all the pitchers don't get bad attitudes not starting and they then add bats without trading from this. Like seriously, blow out everything in the farm and just add bats at this point as that staff could be # 1 in baseball and that's not being a homer.

So is that the plan, to just dick around in 2023 and see if the ultimate pitching staff develops?

This endless waiting and circling the next year is BS.  Do it NOW.

What, we have ways to pivot because there are so many holes that remained unfilled we have plenty of options out there that we ultimately will not sign nor trade for?  And will instead just throw guys in positions because we need a body there?

And, I revert back to an earlier comment I made.  They can "target" anyone, everyone.  Whether or not they make a realistic, competitive offer is another story.

 

They could "target" Judge, but if they offer him $10.00 over 5 years, you're not really having any intention of signing him.

That one was weird because she's right you don't make moves reactive to your rivals but there should still be an urgency to improve your team.

The key is that there are ways never before thought, ways that no one has thought of yet,  that may work for us.  But it is a secret.

Lol no but it's exactly what they did last year so that's exactly how I took it. This group has been talking about positional versatility for a while now which is why they've had corner outfielders in center, corner infielders in the corner outfields, a SS at 2B, a dozen first basemen/DHs, etc.

If they would actually show that they had a coherent and clear plan then yes they wouldn't need to panic but that sure doesn't seem to be the case.
