The only thing I can think here is, Arizona isn't doing shit with their CF until Nimmo goes, Cleveland isn't doing shit with Rosario until the big 4 SS go, the Marlins aren't doing shit until at least Rodon goes at this point, maybe another one or two SP too, the Pirates aren't doing shit until at least Nimmo, maybe the SS, and another big bat or two goes....

So maybe there is a plan but literally these guys need to sign so it clears out the space. Hence, we're at Justin Turner and they are looking at "move 3" first.

But like... set the tone and make the move to show you mean business. Jayson Werth it. Boy would them dropping Correa or Nimmo really set things off right now.

But they won't and it'll be the same old shit of '"we looked into a lot of the FA's but honestly felt like our in-house options were better and give us a better chance at competing" even that that literally makes zero sense considering the lackluster results two straight years now

This is exactly why I think something significant has to get done. Two consecutive offseasons of the same approach failing and them admitting that it failed means they've forced themselves to do it differently so fucking do it already.

Yes this is true, sometimes the free agent market has to clear up before the big trades come and yes there's time (which no one wants to hear), but we said the same shit last year and nothing happened so no one is gonna give them the benefit of the doubt this year. It's up to them to prove us wrong.

I believe he has been mentioned here as a Rule V option. This is even better as he doesn't have to go on the 40 man. Mets fans were surprised he was unprotected on their 40 as they were anticipating him being their 5th OF soon.

TLDR - defensive guy, might hit a little, best CF in Marlins organization right now which is still sad

Love this for what it is and maybe he's a future backup, but go get a MLB one now (and a SS, and some other bat upgrade presumably a 3B/1B)

Say what you will about Kim/FO also, but they are building some really nice depth in AAA. This whole team is extremely interesting with potential. This is a big change from former years. Now if they can just do the MLB roster......

They are making money. It's not incompetence any more than it's not caring...they want to transfer your wealth into their wealth as quickly and cheaply as possible.

The real sick thing is there is no way to make THEM feel it...it will only always be the fans. They aren't really creating any product and therefore there is no way to reject a product. Even if every fan stopped watching, which is impossible, they make money off the visiting team, plus they could sell the team, or move it and drain another fanbase before selling, and still make money.

The other owners must be ok with this...a team to help pad stats and drive revenue...the union likes it because they give aging washed up players a landing spot and the "interest" helps to drive contracts.

This piece made me want to vomit. How is this a change from former years? We've been saying this on here for the past several years now. It's ALL they've been doing for the last five years. And how many of them have panned out exactly????? Yeah. I don't give a flying f*** about minor league depth right now. Biggest reason being when Kim had a handful of top 100 prospects going into last season she STILL wouldn't make a trade. So who the hell cares at this point? The AAA depth for "injury call ups" has historically been extremely low (as Das will pop up and agree with as that has been his shtick) in recent years. It started getting better last year, but we still got 250 PA from Gonzalez/Astudillo/Hamilton/Williams. You can make arguments Lewin/Burdick, even if not great, are worth the time at the MLB level because there is hope tied to them so keeping them out of this PA tally here, but that's another 300 PA they gave out to this AAA group. LeBlanc and Groshans would add even more. So yea, this group of players DOES get some legitimate playing time. To note, Williams was OK here also, but there is something be be said about having to make trades to fill that role when you *should* have this internal depth already built up. He *really* bailed them out by being competent and it could have gotten much worse (especially if Dunand didn't hit that one HR too!). Ultimately, they SHOULD have this depth so they don't have below replacement level players in the wings and there is a legitimate hope there is some prospect that can give a "Fortes" or "LeBlanc" surprise. That entire grouping above fits this bill IMO - there is real talent on that AAA position core across all position groups (except SS) and frankly you could see any of them on the bench. We shouldn't have Gonzalez/Astudillo/Hamilton situations this year, nor have to rely on Williams in a desperation move, nor keep giving Lewin those PA if he's terrible after 50-75 PA as there is someone else in the wings they can swap him with, etc.

So saying you don't give a fuck about depth is respectfully, just being an angry Marlins fans because they are sitting on their hands for the MLB roster. I think we can both objectively see progress in AAA and still (enormously) criticize them for the lack of movement/effort at improving the MLB squad. I'll give a tip of the hat to getting Groshans, Edwards, Mangum, Allen, etc. for relievers and nothing, but trust me, I am still pissed the OOMPH MLB deals aren't coming and these moves alone aren't giving them anywhere near a passing grade. I'm going to be really annoyed, but not get to PISSED until it's spring training. They got time but it's infuriating they aren't doing the "werth" move to set the tone. 

Also, Eury, Berry, and Salas would be considered top 100 prospects if we aggregate the scouting services, and Meyer and Eder are right on the cusp and likely would be in if healthy. Cappe is probably close but not there yet, and Sixto/Fulton/Watson/Mack probably have the pedigree to get there with 2-3 strong months. Farm is solid even if not a top 10 unit because of graduations and yes, they absolutely have depth here to make a trade (or two) and they SHOULD. We are all on the same page there. It's time to cash in when your top 6 + Eury SP average years of control is 4.7 years (and that's with Pablo bringing the weighted average down and not including Meyer/Eder/Fulton), and there are some MLB bats with years of control around.
