We aren't going to get anything because he's an asshole. It becomes much clearer once you accept that he does not want to win. This isn't Loria. Loria was poor and dumb, so he would do things like this occasionally and it would blow up in his face... but it gave us some hope.

Sandy = Good

Pablo = Good

Luzardo = Good

Cabrera = Good

Rogers = Good

Garrett = Good

Lefty relievers = solid enough

Berti = solid, maybe even good with new bases

DLC = Some are predicting a mini break out with new swing so may not be suck

Eury - Top 3 SP prospect in baseball

And you're selling Fortes/Stallings/Cooper/Rojas/Wendle/Kiermaier/Turner very short there. This group could *easily* be a 8-10 WAR clump (projection systems agree). This is barely over a 1+ WAR average player so it's not like these are world beaters. But this is valuable role player production.

 

I agree Garcia and Soler are huge unknowns. I have no idea what to expect with them.

 

Clearly, they need some OOMPH with Correa/Reynolds/Nimmo or this team will not work. So they should start there. They need 3-5 players, which frankly is a lot as this is likely talking about 1500+ PA and at least 75 good reliever innings.

If it is not now, the next "goalpost" would be Eury/Meyer/Eder are 100% ready next year, and Rogers/Cabrera/Luzardo/Garrett all did their thing this year and improved???

That's potentially absurd IMO, and would be *amazing* assuming all the pitchers don't get bad attitudes not starting and they then add bats without trading from this. Like seriously, blow out everything in the farm and just add bats at this point as that staff could be # 1 in baseball and that's not being a homer.

He did occasionally sign a big name even if they only ended up being here for one year of the contract. Off-season we're definitely more fun with him as sad as that is.

He had a 3.69 ERA in the second half of 2021, and that was only across 31.2 innings because he had injuries. He was definitely bad in 2022, but not sure where you're getting he's been bad for "1.5 seasons."

Rogers has shown he has fantastic stuff. It's now up to him to make the necessary adjustments in 2023 after the hitters clearly started to adjust to him in 2022.

His absence in 2021 was due to a family illness, if memory serves correctly.
