Well Jeff, you "destroyed" multiple contending rosters. Which is worse? I'd say failing to build a winner in a decade-and-a-half as owner is also a horrible thing to do, but whatever.

A little color would have been nice to keep, like the tiles didn't have to be removed, but it is what it is. Although I'm not sure how European tiles screamed "Miami" to Loria. Lol.

Loria wanted a giant art gallery / art piece rather than a ballpark. Novel concept but I go to a baseball game to watch a baseball game. If they had towels for outfield walls, I wouldn't care. (Ok maybe a little, but my point remains.)

I love all of the changes to the ballpark except for the fishtanks. I think that was a very unique part of the ballpark.

Seriously. The fact that Loria has actually chosen to lambast Jeter for this just goes to show that his focus was never truly on baseball. Him criticizing Jeter for trading Yelich and Ozuna is even more hilarious given how many firesales Loria sanctioned.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend Jeter did a good job, but Loria is throwing really big stones in a really small glass house.

A lot of it sounds like sour grapes over someone changing things in his pet project after getting rid of it.

 

Reality with pretty much all of the comments is somewhere in between Loria and Jeter.

 

Roster teardowns don't need to be rehashed, but Loria pretending like he was innocent there is funny.

Some of the firings weren't handled well, and a full clean house wasn't necessary, but is what it is.

 

I'm in the middle of the ballpark renovations - I think the restaurant options improved with the redo, but I also think the more unique elements should've been retained and/or refined instead of outright removal.  I'd have kept the concourse color zones (the "European tiles = Miami" line was funny) of the blue/yellow/red/green, but changed the wall from the bright green.  I also simultaneously thought the sculpture was both ridiculous and unique/fun to have once it was already there.  I'd have put in an animatronic marlin that popped out of a "tank" and flopped around like they do when they jump out of the water instead.  Lastly, I liked the backstop fish tanks and would've kept them, but I'd have also put fish tanks up on the concourse so that people that weren't in the expensive section could actually see them.

The hr sculpture was one of best things loria ever did

I miss the green walls! and the home run sculpture just for how hilariously ridiculous looking it was - it made it fun for me. 

I can't speak to food options as I have never been to the park living on the other coast out here. I also still prefer Loria' s uniforms over these shitty ones Jeter and Sherman rolled out which I still refuse to buy a single stitch of because I find them so fucking hideous. 

It really did seem like Bruce and Derek set out to make the park as vanilla as possible so in that regard I guess Loria is right?

Hideous is quite a strong word for the current unis.  Boring and phoned in maybe, but hideous?

I truly do hate them though? If I thought they were even bland I'd still buy one of the versions but I really do hate them. 

Literally all the variants prior to the Loria ones were pretty effing great. I warmed to the Loria ones after a season but these? Hard fucking no.

The green walls were hideous. Idk what the hell Loria was thinking when he picked that as the color. Our ballpark is much more traditional now. I still wish our Marlins logo would have the cartoony fish it had back when it was a minor league team. I prefer that over the original Marlin

I personally LOVED the lime green.  Like some others have said the park is just a generic park now.

I liked the lime green at the time, but also am ok with the current version of the walls.

 

If changing from the lime was a must, I'd have gone with the "ocean blue" that is the team color used in the logo- it'd have been a unique shade for ballpark walls, while still not being the jarring lime green.

Yea but you're onto something there. The teal walls were unique and were one of our colors. So make the walls our current bright blue and it'd be much improved. Too much navy in our ballpark now. 

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, whenever I see it in MLB The Show I insist that that game has the Marlins Park walls a little too light of a blue compared to reality. But that would probably be better if it was the real color. 

Loria sounded so whiny about the “European” tiles. Amazing how even with a billion dollars one can still be petty and/or insecure.

I loved the HR Sculpture, and I thought the fish tanks were dope from an aesthetic perspective. I don’t think fish should be bought and sold and kept in tanks for display, but that’s another conversation.

As said above I was a big fan of the lime green. I even did an accent wall in our kitchen in that color as tribute but yes, please get navy fucking blue out of there. Go teal. Go lime green. Etc. Navy blue ain't us.

I made this comment before, but I have this fan theory that Jeter was still so bitter about the Marlins beating the Yankees in the ‘03 season that he made it a lifelong quest to get even with Loria and Samson. So he did it in the most rich guy way possible, he bought part of the team came in and removed everything that Loria specifically held dear and he also traded away all the greats like Stanton, Yelich and completely disassembled the fun and exciting 2017 team (I know a lot of those guys requested to leave, but that doesn’t fit my story so just play along).

And then he signed Avisail Garcia to a long term contract knowing the Marlins would not get rid of him and play him in the outfield everyday. Then when the time was right he bounced.

Man I'm so on the other side of you except for the sculpture being fun because it was ugly and stupid.

The Loria unis are by far the worst in our history; ugly AF. Nicest thing about it was the typeface. Colors were a disaster and his favorite color of orange was an insult on the eyes. Jeter Unis are a little nicer. Still should have been teal.

Walls? Lime green ain't it. Ugly as shit and I hated staring at it. Maybe they're nicer from the west coast. Still should have been teal.

I'll have to take a photo of the park post renovation and photoshop the walls to the logo blue and see how it looks.

You should put a giant poster of the home run sculpture instead.

We need more water features. For a team on the beach with an aquatic animal as a mascot, it would be awesome if have some art deco waterfalls in the ballpark.

You know, I was just thinking about how bad ass it would be to have part of the outfield walls as an aquarium with real live Marlins fish swimming around..
