Paul Severino - Out

Featured Replies

Listening to many voices of other teams, in my opinion, there are so many Duds that broadcast games and I feel that we have been lucky with Rich and Paul over the years, in fact going way back our lead broadcasters have always been pretty good. Hope we keep up the tradition.

Severino got better after the first couple of years, but he was no Rich….i hope they listen And bring him back and drop most of the analyst guys aside from Tommy (we’ll have to have someone else since stormy wont do the whole season). At least get rid of rod and the bald dude

Guys we can only hope they bring will bring Rich back.. but come on.. realistically we know it’s more than likely going to be some brand new announcer we have never heard of.. either a former Rays radio network announcer or maybe some random former tv announcer from the Cleveland Indians or Texas Rangers.. or even a former NHL announcer no one ever heard of who is looking to make the transition to MLB games. 😂

But this goes back to the debate of “the front office doesn’t hire and fire the broadcasters. The tv network does.”

Idk.. a lot of people made that argument when Rich was let go.. but then a lot of other people on Twitter made the assumption that it was Jeter who got rid of Rich.. actually Boog Sciambi basically said exactly that on Twitter.. and I mean we all hate Boog now.. but I mean he definitely would know a few things about broadcasters hire and firing process.

So I don’t know what to think about this Paul Severino not coming back..

But well to be honest.. I didn’t watch like 90% of the games in 2024 even with mlb.tv. I just chose not to for obvious reasons. So even if they get a great new announcer.. if the team still plays poorly I’m probably still not watching. Only announcer that would bring me back as a viewer would be Rich.

Actually.. that would be such a smart move from the tv network’s perspective. Bring back Rich.. and market the broadcasts as the return of Rich and Tommy. Definitely would increase viewership for sure. Rich is in his early 60’s now but still could probably have another 5-10 solid seasons left if he wanted to return to full time broadcasting.

Rich has continued broadcasting - he’s done football and different things.

The thing about Rich and Tommy combo was they were entertaining even when the team sucked. After Rich left, we had the sucky team without the entertaining broadcasters, so just bad all around.

Rich and Tommy every damn game…….make it so!

I don’t think Tommy wants to do every game - I think he only wants home games/ a partial schedule.
