  1. Someone's been hitting up that blue magic a little too much.
  2. What's even better is that his last name, "Verga" is Central American slang for dick.
  3. Seriously, what kinds of expectations did you guys have going into this season? This team was a
  4. No, at this point you do not trade Hermida. The opportunity cost of holding onto him is not greater than his value in the trade market. He's making peanuts, he's young and still has tons of potential - keep him.
  5. Trading for a premier rental won't accomplish much. This team's pitching is increasingly erratic in terms of performance and health. We should let this year play out, let our players (especially our pitchers) get over their injury bugs, and make a stern run next year. The bullpen has been solidified, our hitting has been strong (except for the Ks), but our starting pitching has been far from consistent. I believe we're still a few Beinfest-saavy moves away from a serious contender: a quality this team has not found this season.

Porcello is too good of a talent to pass up. Especially since we have few budding studs in the minors.

    Let's get Porcello!!
  9. uh, he's right...the ad says that anyone trying to fight for 'family values' would be silenced if the democrats took over...in other words, that it's not a democratic priority
  10. It was bought by Venezuela? Or did the United States do a poor job of buying it themselves?

I think the United States is the only country that shuns being multilingual
  12. Sure, he violated a crime, but no crime merits this kind of punishment (indefinite lock-up, no due process, etc.) These kinds of punishments are handed out by scum like Fidel Castro of Kim Jong-Il. Under no circumstance in this country should we keep people in prison for five years based on suspicion of anything. People violate the "law" in Cuba all the time for speaking out against the government, and receive sentences like this. I really hope this is a sad and unfortunate anomaly, and not the kind of thing we should come to expect.
  13. Screw Mike Lowell. He was paid $8+ million last year to play as terribly as Abercrombie. He was drowning this team with his incompetence, and was one of the major reasons why we failed last year (his drop off in RBI production and HRs was a huge reason).
  14. if we make a trade, it's to make the team better; pierre doesn't make us better.
  15. wow he's so off on Johnson it's sickening
  16. Hanley IS hurt. It came out a few weeks ago that he was playing with an injured hand.
  17. I read something a while back that Hanely was playing with an injured hand, obviously something is wrong iwth him since his BA has dropped tremendously.
  18. Yeah well, this is referring to the City of Miami, not Miami-Dade County. In Miami-Dade, you have cities and mayors for every two miles. City of Coral Gables, Pinecrest, South Miami, etc. What does the City of Miami encompass? Little Havana, Liberty City, etc. Not necessarily the highest areas of opportunity and education...
  19. I would much rather lead in strike outs than double plays...
  20. I don't doubt (at this current pace) that the team will seriously compete in two years. Unfortunately, you have to factor in the inevitable regressions some players experience. A great year by Uggla, could translate into an awful sophomore season - you just don't know in baseball. In the meantime, I say we acquire young talent, whether or not that means trading Willis. In the end, we just won't know until we get there. Many expected us to win last year; yet, Mike Lowell had a disastrous year. In the mean time, we should just enjoy this team's energy, because they're definitely a lot more fun to watch than last year's overrated, lazy team.
  21. trade him for the difference in the funding gap. reach a deal with the yankees so that they pay the 60 million over X amount of years.
  22. Well, I really hope we don't draft any more pitchers. I was wondering what kinds of hitters we'll be seeing in the draft, considering it's likely we'll have a top 3 pick, if not the top over all pick, in addition to the draft picks we have from compensation.
  23. abajo con fidel y abajo con el equipo cubano! go DR!
  24. he probably can put up big numbers, that way we can trade him away, too...
  25. The fact is that Mike Lowell is making more contact. He's a guy who has demonstrated power in the past, so by making contact, he's increasing his chances of hitting doubles and home runs. I'm happy his average has picked up.
