Dontrelle could still win the CY
To say that we lost this game because of Jack and the Cy Young race is STUPID... Dontrelle's pitching count was still low enough that he could go out and complete the game. If in the 8th, he would have been getting roughed up, then I would agree... but the DTrain was cruising... there was no reason to take him out... I would have done the same and sent DTrain to finish it off... and so would have anyone else that knows baseball.... Jack and DTrain do not deserve not one blame for this game...

Lacking in popularity? Not quite.
Nice to see....

Did anyone checkout Herald.Com Poll
Marlins average 23k. The teams in and around Michigan: Tigers average 26K Indians average 24k Reds 24k Pirates 23.5K Yea, that part of the country is going crazy for their baseball I see. It is simply the in-thing to say the Marlins don't draw (which they don't) even though many other teams dont as well. Just like its the in-thing to say the Marlins will slash payroll...but the Tigers won't? 948312 The reason we always have to be counting pennies is because of the wonderful lease deal with have with Huizenga and in addition him getting all the revenue of parking and concession stands proceeds...

Gammons on Delgado
is there more to this then meets the eye?? who was it that said someone with serious money is interested in buying the fish?? is there any more news regarding that?? someone needs to write loria and get this cleared up.? i was very pissed before i went to sleep last night at what gammons said. 944854 Joe Rose mentioned this morning on his show that there is a Latin guy with deep pockets that is interested buying and keeping the Marlins here. But that is all rumor mill crap right now. Tim Kurkjan can toss my salad. 944858 NO... i THINK what he said is what we NEED is a latin guy with deep pockets... i dont think he said that there IS...

Gammons on Delgado
Look guys... who are we kidding... Baseball is not about winning... is about making money. Delgado's contract is HEAVILY backloaded. Attendance is awful. Recent news show dimming chances of us getting a new ballpark. I dont think Loria will pull the plug on Delgado just yet, but Gamons does point out a good point. Everyone is always talking trash about Gammons... the truth is that he knows more about baseball than almost anyone and he is just pointing out the obvious. A team paying $15 mil for a player when they are losing millions and fans dont even show up during playoff race is pretty obvious to me. I really doubt that Loria will trade Delgado to the Mets.... but lets say the Marlins dont make it to the playoffs.... Loria keeps losing tons of money... and no ballpark... Cant get rid of Lowell in the offseason.... and later on we need to resign Migue....I wouldnt be surprised if this happens in the upcoming years. Trust me.... im a huge Delgado fan... and the last thing I want is to see him go.... but dont rule anything out... And stop bashing Gammons... the guy is just trying to make a living pointing out the obvious (although a trade to the Mets is unlikely). 944846 OK, so it may be obvious. But this will not happen until the seasons over. Why start the rumor mill swirling now when they are in the thick of a playoff race. He knows his s***, but this was just bad timing. Now, Delgado will have to deal with questions about these comments. 944850 Couldn't agree with you more about the timing... but Delgado is a veteran, he was involved in trade rumors continuosly in Toronto... i think he knows how to handle it...(I hope).... GO FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can Willis Win the Cy Young?
I wanted to see what you guys thought about Willis winning the Cy Young... Up to now, Willis and Carpenter have almost identical stats. The difference is Carpenter's edge in ERA of a .18 less... see below for the stats... Carpenter = Record 21-4 | CG 7 / SHO 4| ERA 2.31 Willis ==== Record 21-8 | CG 7 / SHO 5| ERA 2.49 In addition, Willis is a great hitting pitcher... I think if Carpenter gets knocked around in his last couple starts, the Marlins make it in the playoffs, and D Train pitches Gems in his last 3 starts... I think D Train can win it... Although at this point, there has been sooo much talk about Carpenter, that Willis will really need to pitch lights out and Carpenter tank... What do you guys think?

Next year's Marlins Lineup?
We still have to wait and see if Gonzo and Pierre decide to stay here... There is still no point in talking about next year's lineup...
-
Miguel the Youngest
What we need to do is sign Migue long term like the Cards did with Pujols... i wouldn't mind giving him a 10 year - 100 mil contract.
-
Miggy is our new 3rd baseman
if this is true.... its 'bout time.... Hopefully Hermi is the same spark that Migue was for us in '03... GO FISH!!!

Lowell Must be Benched!!!
STEROIDS!!!! 5mph off his swing tells the whole story.... unfortunate...but true....

We won, but . . . .
I agree with Fresh Fish... yes although we faced Jake Peavy, we still need to score more runs.... especially in late inning games. Lets face it... we are not going to get CG SHOs every night... we need to be able to hit with RISP and late in games... It seems lately that when we are loosing in the 7th inning, we have a sense of defeat. In 2003, if we were down in the 7th inning, we were dissapointed if we didnt come back... Dont bash FreshFish for pointing out the obvious... Cause if we are to make it to the playoffs and we have to face the Cards in the first round, you better believe that our pitchers wont pitch shutouts and that us scoring 3 runs is gonna cut it... I am still a firm believer that with our 3 Aces and a healthly line up we can do some serious damage in the playoffs.... The main point is that we need to get hits at key at bats and improve our run scoring in the late innings.

Yet Another disgruntled Season Ticket Holder
From what I understand, the Heat season tickets work the same way...

Keep Conine in the lineup
As much as I like Lowell's defense, why not move Cabrera to third and put Conine in left? 905627 I couldnt agree with you more. Lowell needs to be benched or sent down. He needs to regroup his thoughts and work on his bat speed. Conine is toooo hot right now. If I were Jack, I would start hitting ground balls to Migue and put him at third and Conine at LF.

how about this 4 a lineup
How bout sitting Lowell for a couple of days to see if he can finally regroup.... Pierre Castillo Cabrera Delgado Encarnacion LoDuca Conine Gonzo Pitcher Jack can figure out the line up better than I can... I just think it would be good to sit down Lowell for some games and let Conine play left and Cabs at third. I know Cabs hasnt played third in a while, but I am sure that with a couple of practice sessions, he can be broken in again. Afterall, he played the position all of his life.

Cheney in 08?
If there's a Clinton/Cheney election, I'm leaving. I'll see you guys in Hawaii. 898847 Last time I checked Hawaii was still a state... and still in the US... lol...

Jason "the Crow" Vargas
He looks very feminine to me. 897623 Funny you said that.... last night as Vargas was pitching, my mom was walking by the living room and she suddenly stopped and said that Vargas looked like a woman.... lol...

Everyone with high socks tonight
I think this is the way players should ALWAYS wear their socks... This is the way I wear it when I play... It looks bad ass..

Keep Burnett?
I think we should only give AJ away if we get something valuable in return. I would have only pulled the trigger on the Baltimore deal if we got Daniel Cabrera in return. He is a young, talented, cheap pitcher. We need a young gun that is going to help us in the future. None of the offers right are going to significantly help us in the future and they are not worth us giving away AJ. I say we only trade him close to the deadline IF we look completely out of it and there is no shot of us making the playoffs. If we are close, I say keep him and lets give it all we got. I seriously think that if we are able to make it to the playoffs, its just us and the Cardinals for the NL crown.... and with a three man rotation of Beckett, Burnett, and Willis... i really like our chances... The second we trade AJ... we are putting up the white flag...
-
"Sources: O's get Burnett"
HORRIBLE DEAL..... We are getting jack s***... we are not even getting Daniel Cabrera.... This is bull... Bigbie and Julio both are schleps...and Penn is unproven.. I cant believe we are giving AJ away for nothing... Daniel Cabrera would be the only guy that would make sense for us to get.. he is a young, talented, and cheap pitcher... but instead we get Bigbie and Julio.... what a crock of s***.... HORRIBLE...
-
If we do trade Lowell to the O's...Griffey?
There is no way that Jr. is coming over here... He said he would only go to a major contendor that need a CF... ex: Yankees, Angels
-
New Three Way Deal?
Right now... I dont like any of the trades .... The only one that I thought would be not a bad move for us was if the O's included Daniel Cabrera in the deal. He is a young, talented, cheap pitcher... that is exactly what we need in return... I have seen Cabrara pitch and he has some good stuff, incredible fastball, but a bit wild at time...but that could be something that can easily be corrected. Bronson Arroyo...EHHHHH... i think he has benefited alot from those bats up in Boston. He has a mediocre ERA and his stuff is nothing special... (but we also have to remember that his ERA suffers abit since he pitches in the AL)

Lebatard!!!
I agree with you guys... Its torture listening to LeBetard and sidekick everyday!!!! I wish Booge was on at LeBetard's time slot... All they do is talk s*** all day and laugh at the stupidest things!.... And then when a caller calls in and makes a valid point, they automatically dismiss it and laugh at the guy... what a bunch of schleps... Oh... and another thing that bothers me... WHY? WHY? WHY? is the only of the hour of the week with David Samson is all talking about movies... especially right near the trade deadline... I mean... WHO CARES what movies Samson or the listeners like... we want to hear his thoughts on the trades and Marlins... Bunch of idiots ....
