Hanley Hates Hair Policy

Featured Replies

Hey Hanley stop being a little girl. Cut your hair and collect your huge pay check after being the top shortstop in the league. Get over it!

players should just get over there issues and do as they are told by management, but overall yes it is a petty rule, but if the FO wants Hanley and the rest of the marlins to look more professional by cutting their hair, they should have no issue doing it. It's not like they are asking him to change his game in any drastic way, just his appearance.

2 run hr today-so I guess hair does not equal strength. Hanley will be fine. Cody hit a 3run double and look at all his hair.

Huh?

Samson, and not David.

To the comment about Manny, I wouldn't care if a player looks like Manny if they can hit like Manny. But then I'm not exactly clean cut either, so I guess I'm biased.

Seriously though, I don't know why someone like Hanley would put up with it. If I were him I would just flat out refuse. What are they seriously going to do? Bench him? Trade him?

And while there is a point to the fact that this is a job, I would also make the point that in this line of work, I think it's in the best interests of the team and the players that they all be as comfortable as possible when they are out there to play. If that means long hair, heavy chains, who cares? Seriously? You don't get bonus runs for looking clean cut.

Friedman on 790 said Hanley demanded a trade haha. We got little manny here. Well actually Hanley's taller than Manny.

and the story has officially made the front page of yahoo.com, yes the marlins managed to mess up a simple situation and turn it into a full out war of words. Hanley seems like he won't be 100% happy going into next season.

The rule that he can't wear jewlery is extremely petty, as i remember players such as Alex Gonzalez and the old 1997 guys wearing jewlery without a problem. Jewlery shouldn't be in any type of rules, marlins shouldn't be so goddamn petty, but agreed that Hanley should grow up and remember he is under contract and needs to act like the face of the franchise.

Hanley seemed to be having a laugh and joke about it out on the field with Reyes today.

Quite interesting to hear that Hanley is the godfather of Jose's newborn daughter

This whole thing is really pissing me the f*** off now. #1: Hanley shouldn't have acted like such a goddamn baby. Grow up, and stop trying to be a baby Manny. People who get paid a lot less have to live by their jobs rules, so should you. #2: He threw a temper-tantrum for all of 10 minutes, yet that was long enough for the national media to get wind of it and try to make it look like a huge issue. Now it was on Yahoo's front page, and it was a topic on PTI yesterday.

I just really wish he would have thought about it for a few minutes before acting like a child.

I didn't know not having hair could make you bat so bad during spring training. If he's going to suck this bad maybe they should let him grow his hair out and where his hundred thousand dollar chain-it's all about confidence anyways, isn't it? :lol

didnt giradi have this rule.

then freddy came they didnt care

now they want it again?

well hanley sucked when he had hair and the day after he cut it he went yard.

Then he needs to cut his hair everyday because he is stinking up spring training.

 It's the fault of upper management. They need to sell this team. What have they ever done for us??

I didn't realize Joe Girardi was still around. Seriously though I understand the want to look professional and I sure as hell don't want to see any Manny looking types out there, but there has to be a middle ground on this.

That's what I thought....this is new ? Didn't Girardi have these rules too ?

Oh, we'll be MORE than glad to take Hanley off your hands. We have a bald manager named Terry Francona who really doesn't care how long a player's hair is :)

We'll give you Jed Lowrie and maybe a pitcher named Bowden...

Hanley...we still love you in Boston! We'll take you back gladly!
