The Official Giancarlo Stanton Man Crush Thread

Featured Replies

I think Stanton will get to 100 HR by the end of the season, which will make him the 4th youngest ever to 100 HR behind Mel Ott, Tony Conigliaro, and Eddie Matthews.

Do I hear 125?

As great of a season Stanton is having, he is still nowhere near his potential, at least as a polished hitter. Josh Hamilton has comparable contact and plate discipline in general. But, what differs greatly between Stanton and Hamilton, is that Hamilton has a marginally better contact rate outside the zone than Stanton. So, Stanton has to be alot more selective with his pitches than Hamilton.

His contact rate in general is still mediocre and hasn't changed much from his rookie season. So expect his rate stats to drop over the course of the season. We're looking at a line of probably:

.275 AVG | .360 OBP | .560 SLG | .920 OPS

...by the end of the season. His ISO will increase due to his low GB rate this season and also expect a slight increase in K%.

There's no comparison to Josh Hamilton. Josh Hamilton is the one player in the big leagues who's basically sh*tting on plate discipline and is still very productive, somehow.

It's really amazing how productive Hamilton is considering he swings at everything. He's a statistical anomaly, especially this year.

I'm predicting 52 HR's this year.

GTFO here Barry, your crazy.

"What can I say? There's no strategy against crazy."

Is it possible to give him a contract extension during this rain delay?

It's because Marlins fans don't vote for their team's best players generally. Miami fans in general are pretty apathetic.

I said early on that Stanton was going to have to make the team as a coaches/players pick. Without the name recognition really being there nationally just yet, Stanton's not gonna be a starter. I'll be more upset if the fans don't vote for him to participate in the Home Run Derby. That would be a travesty.

Who is the NL Manager this year? La Russa is gone, does it just become Matheny because he is the current Cardinals manager?

LaRussa has stated that he will be returning to coach the All-Star Game.

The fans don't decide that.
