Yeah I heard Kemp mention Stanton when talking about the derby.

It's because Marlins fans don't vote for their team's best players generally. Miami fans in general are pretty apathetic.

 

I said early on that Stanton was going to have to make the team as a coaches/players pick. Without the name recognition really being there nationally just yet, Stanton's not gonna be a starter. I'll be more upset if the fans don't vote for him to participate in the Home Run Derby. That would be a travesty.

I feel the same way for Ruggiano as I feel for Reyes. I think they can both be positive contributors to the team in the future. Only thing I'm scared for Reyes is that his UZR has been falling off over the years and he might be regressiing defensively.
