According to the sun-sentinel the two sides are very far apart.

that can be expected with the cheap marlins.

nolasco has been a winner and until he shows me that he can do it consistently and eliminate those 5 or 6 terrible starts and get his ERA away from the mid to high 4's, then I agree with the team being cautious.

i want to see the nolasco from 2008 all year.

I would not expect them to be close when negotiations start off.

Nolasco is probably demanding many years, much money, and the death of all first born (that is the point he is willing to give up for the sake of negotiating)

1. Sign Uggla long term.

2. Release Nolasco.

3. Use Nolasco money to help BP and catcher?

4. Introduce whacky fun Sunday's. Where Uggla has to do the robot dance before every at bat.

5. Have Hanley on Shaq vs if it gets a third season.

Remember that one time Sosnick was all like "The Marlins suck and we'll never be able to complete a long term deal for Josh Johnson because they suck"

And then they did the long term deal with what the Marlins wanted?

Yeah, I'm not really worried. Sosnick likes to hear himself talk. This should get done.

Fail.

I initially stopped reading after #2...

I want Nolasco on this team long term, just not as the #2 option in the rotation.

Give him the money he deserves, which imo is roughly $6 million per year for the next 4 years. Basically the kind of money an inconsistent #2 should get. If he thinks he's really worth #2 money, we should just give up on any kind of contract discussions.

Inconsistency has plagued a lot of our players and Ricky has been one of them, but I like Ricky and I think when he's on his game, he's good. I'm not sure what our future plans are when it comes to pitching but I can understand the problem the Marlins have with negotiating with Ricky right now. The Marlins are always careful when it comes to making any negotiations and unfortunately, it sometimes means letting go a player that we would rather keep due to the money. The fact that Ricky is hurt right now doesn't help the situation I'm sure. But I agree with everyone here to give it time and we'll see what happens. I just hope we don't end up with a gaping hole in our starting pitching. We need to make our starting pitching better not worse. Just please don't tell me the same thing with Uggla! I really want to hear that Uggla and the Marlins have come to some agreement already!

I think these negotiations are even more expected to be far apart early given Nolasco's wild inconsistency on a game-to-game and season-to-season basis and his current injured status.

Nolasco's team will want compensation based on 2008 Nolasco, which is significantly different than what the Marlins will start out offerring.

Joke time:

I think they're far apart today but tomorrow will look fantastic, probably look kinda average in 5 days and then look horrible 5 days after that.

Love this list, you left out

6. One Hour special on " UnMasking Lil' Billy" , turns out Samson has been wearing the Lil' Billy costume all these years! All in an effort to save more money.

I'm assuming the contract would be at a minimum $6 million per year and it's not a good idea to give long term contracts for that kind of money to mediocre players.

Thank God Ricky Nolasco isn't mediocre then.
