they shoudlnt be surprised. i would argue the nationals are better than the mets this year. on paper at least. they got laroche, werth, zimmerman and espinosa and desmond primed for breakout years.

Another positive would be that none of our starters struck out in this game. The Marlins only K'd twice, and it was Josh Johnson both times. For a team that's been at the top in strikeouts over the years, that was nice to see.

I'm a bit late but...great game last night. As in that song by Rebecca Black: "Friday..fun fun fun fun..." or whatever.. All I got to say is "BUCK-IT!" Grand Slam..awesome. That's the way to open up a season! 2011 is going to be fun! Hope Stanton is ok though.

I would just like to add that the national anthem was awesome. One of the best instrumental renditions I have ever heard. Was there a flyover? TV didn't show it if there was.

Me too. He showed off some of his defensive skills. Hanley also had a great game defensively. That play up the middle with the spin and throw to keep the no hitter alive was amazing.

Even more amazing considering Ari started Livan. Almost a right handed Moyer.

Although I voted to Buck, I think the whole team she be considered FOTG.

This was the type of game that would end up as a no-decision last season for JJ. It appears that the bullpen has a chance of becoming dependable...Amazing job for them. BTW love the new lineup. Buck is such an upgrade in catching from last season. Perfect start for the new season.
