November 12, 201114 yr or rather... more specifically it's a ballpark, if anyone wants to get technical. You're splitting hairs. He's not. It's a ballpark, not a stadium. There's a reason the Marlins (and Samson in particular) have stressed that it's a ballpark, not a stadium. That's because it's a ballpark, not a stadium.
November 12, 201114 yr So after the intro video last night, everybody agree that it's going to be Carnival?
November 12, 201114 yr What's the difference between a ballpark and a stadium? I thought a ball park was where you play T-Ball. And why did you pick on me to start this argument when this thread is 27 pages long and 7 months old. How many time has it been called a stadium in the thread? And Gizmo called it a stadium in title. :huh

December 6, 201114 yr I'm telling you, Pepsi bought the rights.... Or so my source says. My source hasn't failed me yet.

December 6, 201114 yr And just a thing I noticed while I was at the stadium for tHe uniform unveil. All the drinks were Pepsi products.
December 6, 201114 yr Author They can call it Clown Penis Ballpark for all I care at this point. Clown Penis makes a fine product.
December 6, 201114 yr Interested on how all of these FA signings change how much $ they get for the naming rights. I wonder if the delay has had something to do with expecting to sign lots of FAs --> demand more $$$ for naming rights.
December 6, 201114 yr Hard to say. There was a comment a month or two ago by maybe (I think it was) Samson to the effect that it had gotten "more complicated," implying, I guess, that there was more to it than just naming rights, perhaps a wider array of joint marketing strategies. Or something. But, what? Maybe the delay was the result of Loria deciding that payroll will go up to as much as 125 million (as I suggested a couple of months ago and now appears likely, to the great surprise of everyone.) Trying to leverage what would have to be a real contender in the naming-deal negotiations would make some degree of sense. Which might explain the long delay. What the hell, the Mutts got 20 mill a year for 20 years from Citigroup. Why shouldn't we get more than the expected, middling 5 million/year or so? Or, then again, that may have nothing to do with the delay. Considering that negotiations are probably still ongoing, the last 10 days can't possibly have hurt.
December 13, 201114 yr #Marlins were close on a stadium naming rights deal & backed out. March 3 expected FanFest at stadium.
December 13, 201114 yr So does that mean it's not Pepsi after all? I guess my source may have been wrong. But I should probably do a squall and say. "it's a done deal. They just want to set everything up for the party. Theyre just picking out napkins and such."
December 14, 201114 yr Did anyone body notice that Samson hours there is a name by opening day? It's also hard to believe the park is over 90 percent complete with all the work still to do.
