31 year-old career minor leaguer. Dude has OPS'ed .749 with 66 home runs in ten minor league seasons.

Thats So Marlins.

I think we're at that point where it's the last game of the high school football season and it's a blowout so the game's no longer in question, and the coach is like "ok who hasn't played all season? get 'em all in." Except of course the last few minutes of that blowout will last 4 months long.

So anyone left in AAA who hasn't been in the majors yet, keep your cellphone close by.

"Hey Admin, do we have any guys in the Minors that were never good enough to make it to the big leagues?"

"Yeah, but they still aren't good enough, so..."

"Good thing we're not a real Major League team then, let's give him a shot!"

To state the obvious, I really don't understand what they hope to accomplish with moves like these, unless the reasoning really is as described above.

It doesn't even function as a distraction to the fan base; its just more fuel to mock them with.

Eh, someone has to be the utility guy. Green wasn't burning it up (for the second time,) so why not give Lucas a chance for a couple of weeks until Solano comes back?

With any luck, he kills it and Solano goes down when he comes off the DL.

Probably ain't gonna happen and nobody really cares about Lucas except Lucas and his family, but the guy's been slogging it out for 10 long years in the minors, so if nothing else he's persistent. Played every position other than CF and C.

This is the first time he's ever been called up, so I'm sure he'll enjoy it immensely. He might even do better than the rock-bottom expectations. I wish him luck.

it's really unfortunate Dietrich has struggled a bit (His OPS is still better than Solano's) as no doubt we'll have to see Solano in the starting lineup once again since the FO is obsessed with his lack of skills both offensively and defensively for some reason.

what the heck, give the guy a chance. Re-sign Greenberg, hire some clowns and get some female ballplayers also. Friends from other cities can't even poke fun at me anymore, they just feel bad and I won't react anyway-sort of just like "who cares". So, that kills their fun.

Its becoming harder and harder to be a fan of this team. Not only is our record the standard for league laughing stock, but now we just called up a 31yr old rookie. I understand this season has gotten out of hand, but jesus.

Loria: Someone quick call Alejandro Pena. He's just now coming into his prime! Wait Benito Santiago is also available? WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

It's useless to make jokes about awful players we can call up. It's like going to a leper colony and telling people they have bad hair.

I'm waiting for the day they call Joe Strong back up to the Majors. The oldest Super 2 to ever reach the big leagues.
