Post Game 8/11

Featured Replies

Huge game for the offense to come around but hate leaving that run on third with no outs.

Koehler was awful and lucky to get through 5 and I think it's time to really be concerned about Cishek.

And possibly one of Stanton's best games so far.

Something something STANTON

Oh and Hech doing everything to save that game at the end.

I like starting game threads and we win. Very motivational. When i was a scholarly young pup we didn't have forums. Now at 27, im glad to be here celebrating with all you guys and erick.

And braves lost !!!!!!!!

This site has been around since 1993 and with forums since the late 90s. You missed out!

The 1993 site was a one-page Marlins site but hey, it counts! Grew over the years. Our forums started in the late 90s, I forget what year exactly. We had different software prior to 2002 so you can't find posts here from before then.

Left mid 8th when we were up 6-3. Did Cyshek give up two?

Yep. He is struggling big time. I dont understand the concept of a job description as a closer. Morris threw only 9 pitches in the 8th. He could have easily pitched in the ninth. But whatever man, we won!!!

We're shrek's pitches that bad? According to game day, both pitches that got hit (the triple and subsequent single) were both low and out of the zone (the triple being borderline). Just curious if it was more good hitting rather than poor pitching? (obviously, the walk was wtf)

Yea, a lot of us have been here forever. I joined originally in 2002. Dang, that's a long time.

As good as that win felt, they're 5-5 in August. They're not making up any ground and we're under 2 months left.

With Stanton playing like this, who knows maybe they've got a run left in them though. They are getting Henderson & Cosart back.

Anyhow, hell of a game. The Stanton Show.

I think Cishek is suffering from dead arm syndrome and just natural fatigue. I'd give him a week off and go with a closer by committee for a week. Claim he got a concussion or something and put him on the 7 Day DL. Move Ramos and Hatcher to the closer role for the week.

He needs help.

I don't think that Cishek is hurt.

I don't know, he doesn't seem to have that same movement. He's probably tired.

I was there guys, one of the absolute most "fun" games I've ever been too. Felt like I was out of my seat cheering and fist pumping every half inning. Such a "positive" game, there wasn't much to drop ur head and get upset over. I was actually thinking, this is the kind of game you take a couple non-fans to and it helps them enjoy baseball. You take them and they're like 'Holy crap this is fun, this team is good too, what have I been missing?'

How many times do u hear some casual fan, maybe a family member, who goes "Oh someone gave me tix to the Marlins last week... I went... The stadium is nice but I was bored, they lost 5-0... I didn't see the ugly sculpture go off, the upper deck was empty, my kids lost interest halfway through, we left early to beat traffic, whatever." I'd take back all those games to trade them one ticket to last nights game.

Ya we need to make a run one way or another and we will soon. We have been hovering between 4.5 and 5.5 games out of the wild card and we have a very easy schedule coming up after the next couple games and we need to take advantage while none of these other teams are playing well.

We play the Diamondbacks, Rangers, and Colorado for our next 9 games after this with the only games on the road being the colorado series where Stanton puts the ball into orbit. We will either be very close to contention after that stretch or we are done. We can't keep hovering around the same mark because eventually those other teams will get hot.

Went to this game - have to say it was in the top 3 of games I've been to, for sure. Stanton, wow. Longest home run I've seen in person was that second one. Tied for MLB lead now in that category. And the defense throughout the night, except the ninth - holy Hechavarria that double play, and Stanton's diving catch. I don't think I've ever gotten up to give a standing ovation to a defensive play, and I did twice last night. Fan-fucking-tastic game all around.

Shoutout to Yelich's and Valdespin's defensive plays earlier, too.
