Why is (Insert Name) Still on This Team?

Featured Replies

As a follow-up to the Dunn post, I figure we could just name everyone under one thread...

Mathis with his .113 is fucking unacceptable

Dunn, Mathis, narveson, Suzuki, telis, rienzo, Ramos, hand, Ellington.

why not? Baker, wittgren, nicolino, ozuna

Ramos?  Really? I think you just like the attention from the outrageous things you say Vince.  LOL  Also, Telis deserves a shot to see if he can stick as the back up catcher, and Ellington has a very live arm and might be a pretty good relief pitcher.  Suzki is a future HOF so you can't just release him.  I wouldn't sign him again though.

nope. Went through the roster. Kept who i liked, typed what i didnt like, asked about people that are supposed to get a shot with us. If anything ramos is the one i hate the least of that bunch. Your first second and third are hand, dunn, and rinzo.

Guys who shouldn't be on any team's 40-man roster, let alone the active roster:

Chris Narveson

Andre Rienzo

Jeff Mathis

Casey McGehee

Guys who should be in the minor leagues working on things because the Major Leagues are way too hard for them:

Mike Dunn

Jose Urena

Guys with potentially bright futures who might as well show us what they've got now that the Marlins are going for the first pick of the draft:

Adam Conley

Brian Ellington

Brad Hand

Tomas Telis

Justin Bour

Derek Dietrich

Miguel Rojas

Guys who would make ANY team's 25 man roster:

Jose Fernandez

AJ Ramos

JT Realmuto

Dee Gordon

Martin Prado

Christian Yelich

Anyone left (Koehler, Phelps, etc) are guys who would be on SOME 25 man rosters, but not all. They are guys who are good at baseball only when compared to the piles of shit next to them on the Marlins.

LOL Stanton would be on some rosters but not all.

I follow the minors closely and didn't know we had a player named Chris Narveson. I've heard the name before, but that was back when he was being meh for Milwaukee. I basically feel like Wittgren needs to start getting old and terrible if he wants a chance at that major league call up. That seems to be the guys they're bringing up.

I really wish I could watch this team again. I cannot commit three hours of my life midnight-3am on a nightly basis to watch a player hitting slightly about .200 and less home runs than Hech hitching clean up, and all the other shit.

I'm only watching Jose starts ATM.

Such high hopes for this season. This team is on a par with 2013 in terms of suckiness.

Jose starts are must watch no doubt . Why should us fans be subjected to the other shit.

Only thing I can think of is they can showcase him for 2 weeks, hope he does well, but him on waivers, and try to recoup a (very) low level prospect. Everyone always needs another lefty. I am hopeful this is the same strategy with McGehee and Gillespie, because if not, they really need to give young guys a chance and see if there is value for the future. It would be great to know if Hand could be a LOOGY next year instead of miscast as a SP or long man. That would open up a Dunn trade big time. Give Telis 2 starts a week and other opportunities to make sure he can be the backup catcher. Give Dietrich everyday AB to see if the hitting is going to hold up and if he is not embarrassing somewhere on the field. Make sure Rojas is a for sure option for 25th man. See if Urena or Conley is a legitimate 5th SP at worst, or plus bullpen options. Same with Ellington. Those 3 in pen plus Ramos, Capps, and Morris really could open up some trade options.

But yea, Chris Narveson. Good for him, but I really hope he doesn't really cut into evaluation time for everyone else.

lol batting average.

When you're hitting .113, chances are, you are not a very good hitter regardless of what other metric you use.

Yes! Offense is beyond disgusting right now.

that Lou post is spot-on and there is zero reason to do anything other than that right there.  Start building for next season right now.  I don't know what to do with Phelps at this point.

I sort of actually like what happened the other day with Hand throwing 4 innings and then Conley coming in, although it should've been reversed.

At least the second half of 2013 was interesting, though. Plus, that team was expected to suck.

This year is more on par with 2012. High expectations, but shitty results.

Huh? Ramos has a 2.63 ERA, 2.45 FIP, a 0.96 WHIP (!!!) and strikes out nearly 12 batters per nine innings.

If you dislike Ramos, then you must dislike every reliever in baseball, because he is one of the better ones.

just don't like him. Okay let me rephrase this. He shouldn't fall under why is he on this team because this is AA club but I don't see him being effective anywhere else.
