The Fire Don Mattingly Thread

He’ll never be fired.

The year is 2104, the Jacksonville Marlins (who, you'll recall were the Miami Marlins before the city was permanently inundated by Hurricane Elon), have won their 7th game of the season. They will head into their next game with a record of 7-41, the best mark through 48 games for the team since the 2022 season. Manager Don Mattingly said before the game, "I like our chances tonight with Willians on the mound and Erik in centerfield. Go Marlins!"

I believe have a “The Fire Joe Girardi Thread ” in the Phillies fan website, with that payroll Girardi seems much more bad than Mattingly, so who got fired first ?

100% sure that Girardi will be fired before Don, not saying he deserves it more but I am 100% sure he will be.

Giaradi is doing an awful job, but he has a roster that literally has no defenders on it, so you get what you get with that.

Segura is awful and has been for years.

Didi is not good.

Hoskins is not good.

Schwarber is not good.

Castellanos is not good.

So ya...

Yep and everyone saw that coming.

Maybe not 5, but yeah, the Marlins have a much better bullpen and Girardi, as bad as he is, would be handling them better than Mattingly has.

If Girardi was the Marlins manager this season, the Marlins would 22-24 right now instead of 19-27. 😂

And I'd feel better about that.

they are going to fire one of the coaches probably as a scapegoat

BREAKING: Marlins fire Assistant Interim Interning Bench Coach's Assistant Junior Executive Vice President's Secretary's Fourth Child's Hitting Coach's Dog

"The Marlins have fired Mel Stottlemyre with Kim Ng citing that under his tutelage the pitching staff does not have a 0.00 era needed to make this a competitive team."

Firing Mel would be a VERY Marlins thing to do.

Why would they fire a dog

Probably because it was hired during the Loria ownership.

They will probably replace that dog with a dog that was previously in the Yankees organization.

from any other source, this would upset me, but from Mish it is 50-50 on whether it's actually true. Easier for clicks and engagement for him to say "he's not on the hot seat" than to say the truth, which would be, "I have no idea and here comes a guess"

22-24 would be in the second place in this division.

If Jeter still over here…

This would only make sense if it meant they knew the roster was flawed and thus Donnie isn't the big problem but I don't think Kim and Sherman understand where they messed up.
