Honestly even if Sanchez homered there I'd still have my doubts of Cooper scoring from first.

Hurt his ankle leaving first base

Agree to disagree, I think it was a stupid move to pinch run for Cooper there with 2 outs and Sanchez facing a lefty.

April 22, 2022.

6th inning.

Bases loaded, 2 outs, down 1.

Does not pinch hit for Avisail Garcia despite his horrid slump. Soft groundout to pitcher.

7th inning.

Runner on first, 2 outs, down 1.

Pinch hits (once again) for Jazz Chisholm with Bryan de la Cruz. Also pinch runs for Jacob Stallings with Jon Berti. DLC strikes out. Berti goes to second base, Payton Henry goes behind the plate. Don has used 3/4 of the bench in one plate appearance.

9th inning.

Runner on first, 1 out, down 3. Miguel Rojas and Jon Berti (both struggling) now have to take at bats vs a tough RHP in Kenley Jansen (Rojas and Berti both have OPS well south of .500 vs RHP) because Don wasted the bench.

While Jon Berti was batting, however, Joey Wendle was in the on deck circle. Joey Wendle would have pinch hit for Payton Henry.

If Joey Wendle happened to come up and do the unthinkable and hit a game tying home run, the Marlins would have gone to the bottom of the 9th (and potentially extra innings) WITHOUT A CATCHER.

Also Top 7, could have simply walked Matt Olson and had Sulser face another RHB. Three more RHB after that, so Sulser could have actually, maybe, gone two innings. Brought in Bleier to face Olson who absolutely smoked lefties last year and Olson hit a two run double.

What even are we doing here, guys ...

I dont know what the fuck Don's obsession with bringing in a pinch runner with a guy on first base is.

I said it the other day and it happens again.

I dont even think the analytics back that up!

Also I assume Rojas would have been catcher I guess.

I believe Berti has been touted as the emergency catcher.

Damn homie, your lips must be swole as hell by now!

It’s getting ridiculous that Jazz and Jesus Sanchez have to sit against EVERY lefty. It’s happening again tonight.

Please stop this, Don.

Don might not be chiefly responsible for last night's loss, but he sure as hell contributed....

- Get Soler out of the 3 spot

- Either bench Garcia (which I doubt because of his contract) or move him way down out of the 5 spot until he shows he can bat higher

- I don't know if DLC and Wendle were unavailable but no way in hell do you let Stallings and Berti bat in the 9th down by a run with the tying run on base

I really felt that Don did not put this team in the best position to win.

More and more, I find myself not upset with the team itself, but with Dumbass Don....

they share equal blame tbh.  I want to say at least 3/4 of us thought that the Garcia signing was stupid as was the Soler signing.  Ng has failed to identify proper needs to fill out and complete a versatile lineup and instead opted to continue looking for more and more "high power, low obp%" types (and then shows how out of touch she was by referring to the multiple 30hr seasons by Garcia and the high obp% machine that Soler is on an actual BROADCAST).  It's early for me here, but I don't think we even have a single switch hitter on the team?  That concept would probably melt Don's brain though in trying to figure out when to put him in for his deft matchup ability.

Yeah, this team is great when the power guys show up once every other week or so but it's painful to watch offensively the rest of the time.  Both Ng and Don share equal blame in my eyes tbh.  It's telling when a message board can easily predict how the offense will perform far better than the GM of the actual team and well in advance of the team even playing a single game. She's been a disappointment to say the least.
