The Fire Don Mattingly Thread

Featured Replies

Mattingly has a head full of concrete.

This was a bad loss, especially with a struggling Rogers pitching tomorrow.  Had to have it.

Who's out there y'all would want to see in as manager? I cringe at the thought of these idiots bringing in LaRussa if he gets gets canned like he should be. What if that's what kim is waiting for lol

The Fire Kim Ng Thread isn’t too far away to be fair.

If that happens I'm out. Lol

Don gets extended, I'm out.

Considering the alternatives; I’d rather keep Don Mattingly.

Unless you bring in Mike Piazza ofc.

Give me someone young and new.

If Don Mattingly gets fired (huge if, I still expect him to sign an extension), and ever tries to file a wrongful termination lawsuit, all the Marlins would have to do is show the 8th inning of last night's game as evidence.

Or a billion other examples

Every time I tweet or post on reddit about how awful Mattingly is at his job, I get a bunch of apologists telling me either that I am wrong and that Mattingly is great, or that I am wrong because the manager in baseball has no impact on the game. But then every time I ask for examples of Don Mattingly being good at his job, it's complete radio silence. These people have Stockholm Syndrome for a guy who doesn't even know they exist.

Yep I want a fresh mind who isn't beholden to the old guard.

You talking about the guard at the bottom of the ramp by the 1st base gate? She's a sweet lady, I don't know why her age is relevant to this conversation though.

If he went to Scott there I'd be less mad. Scott has been very solid lately.

I still wanted Sandy vs Didi.

At that point in the game, why not let him face one more batter?  You've let him stay out there through all that and he just got a double play?  If he walks that guy, that sucks then you change him.  Why pull him after he gets a DP?

Yeah, I would have left him in. Short of that, bring in the guy they've trusted most closing out games lately. Only other acceptable move there.

Don’s a gutless puppet.

Jazz just got tossed for arguing a strike 3 call that was clearly a ball, and this weak puppet barely even cared to defend his best player. Came out to chat with the umpire about dinner plans and went back to the dugout.

Such a pathetic display. He should have been out there long before Jazz got tossed, and should have given the ump way more shit. Dude just does not care about the team at this point.

Mattingly has checked out.  The front office doesn't care, and the manager certaily doesn't give a shit.  How do you expect the fans to care?

In dons defense he was probably asleep when the ejection happened though…

The bigger question. Is why was literally nobody coming out to get jazz out of there to deescalate.

seems like a more team doesn’t give a fuck about jazz tbh.

That’s Mattingly’s job, really.

Also kept Stallings in as a runner in extras when Fortes was available but eh. Thankfully ended up not mattering.

Doesnt matter when playing the Nationals, but when they play a legit MLB quality team?

Does Don do the same move and then it does fuck them?  Why give him a pass for being a stupid idiot just because they won?  A stupid move is a stupid move no matter what the end result is.

I'm not giving him a pass.

I said thankfully it ended up not mattering. As in, despite his mistake.
