Nick Castellanos hits the ball the other way 30% of the time this year.

I don't know for sure if Wendle gets the ball he hits in the 7th without the extreme shift, but it would not have been a 0% chance.

Chalk it up to another Donalytics Shift ™️ that cost the team two outs and inevitably two runs.*

*Anderson really cost the team the second run with his sudden inability to stop balls at third base.

Don keeps playing Anderson at 3B.

Has Anderson always been this lousy at third base?

No, this is fairly new ... usually at least solid there. I think the error in NY has really thrown him off.

ANYWAYS

This farce of a lineup for Meyer's debut. Stallings catching Meyer despite his work with Fortes in the Minors being outstanding. Starting Stallings anyways.

he has the yips right now pretty bad.  he's normally a + defender over there (at least imo, not that it counts for much)

Numbers mostly back it up, too. A positive defender at the least. He's been bad there this year.

Don being Don.

Fortes had been too good.  He was probably tired and needed a break afterall.

Fortes could have started both days. Not like this would be a day game after a night game anyway

It'd be a day game after a mid-day game!

I'm much more annoyed that Don said he didn't want a "young" battery when Brax and Fortes have worked together a bunch of times and done well. Brax is simply a year older than Max. Fortes is a year older than Brax. That's why I made the "Don Mattingly Age Curve" yesterday.

They should let Stallings stay home today and get an extra day of rest before the All-Star Break.

While they’re at it, they should let him stay home the rest of the year too.

Let him rest for next year!
