May 3, 20224 yr Pablo wasn't his usual self for the first three hitters then settled in. Offense couldn't get it figured out in time. Wendle just not available tonight, I guess? Otherwise it's another Don moment. Avisail just needs to be benched. Good fight in the 7th, unfortunate 9th inning results.
May 3, 20224 yr Author Berti also swung at ball 4, which should have been ball 5 cause first pitch was definitely not a strike.

May 3, 20224 yr Maybe - and hear me out here - trade the 8th best longterm SP in the organization for a superstar bat

May 3, 20224 yr I just really hope this doesn’t turn into a longer losing streak. The Marlins tend to do this after win streaks.

They should trade the 5th best longterm RHP SP in the organization - and I leave this up to everyone to personally decide - for a superstar bat. Effectively, that's probably SP 7 longterm not 8. Keep Sandy, pick three of Pablo, Meyer, Eury, and Cabrera, Sixto, Hernandez, and all the lefties - Rogers, Luzardo, Eder, and Fulton. Surely, they can survive short term (this year!) with Sandy/Rogers/Luzardo/at least two of Pablo-Meyer-Cabrera/Hernandez while Sixto and Eder recover, and Eury and Fulton progress. This surely gets you something awesome. I continually have no words. Pablo/Meyer/Eury/Cabrera Bleday/Burdick Salas/Lewis

The bullpen was always going to be fine (assuming Floro and them putting Meyer/Cabrera there eventually), but Bass is a revelation statistically right now and Sulser was a very nice get for the price. This is going to be a good unit and higher than preseason projections for sure. I'd add Jazz, Sanchez, Luzardo, and Wendle are also major success stories and positives. They needed 6+ breakouts to contend, and frankly the bullpen and those four are 5 of them happening. Unfortunately those are being offset by Soler/Garcia/Aguilar/Stallings/Rojas right now (with the team being bailed out by some unreal BABIP performances from Berti/DLC/BA/etc.), so if those guys revert to the mean..... they are *this* close to maybe being a real contender. This goes back to the broken fucking record - this start is even more of an indication they should have made the move for a CF because things are actually falling in to place. The kids are alright. They have to trust the veterans to figure it out, so they should do something ASAP to help prop the team up while they sort themselves out. It's infuriating.
May 3, 20224 yr I have faith in Rojas/Aguilar to get things back. Garcia looks like he's hacking at anything and Soler is an easy pop fly machine. Is there any statistics on players who get a nice contract and then performance falls off a cliff? It looks like their incentive to perform is gone or they are trying so hard to perform that it's working against them. As far as getting a CF? Sánchez is holding his own just fine. The corner outfielders are the ones seriously struggling.

The corner outfielders are the ones seriously struggling. What happens if Sanchez gets hurt - nose dive. They have redundancy everywhere else on the team (besides C). A new CF creates redundancy, improves defense CF/LF (Sanchez is still tracking below average, but a reasonable amount below which is great), and improves the offense by having a greater ability to play splits/hot bats as someone from Aguilar/Cooper/Soler/Garcia/Sanchez/new CF has to be on the bench which is a good thing. I think these guys are professionals and not lazy - Soler is also in a contract year so this is just Garcia we are talking about with a longterm deal. I think they are stressing to do too much and it's working against them.
