The Fire Kim Ng Thread

so now we have a GM who has PUBLICLY admitted to being lazy ON AIR as well as PUBLICLY gone on the record stating Soler is a high obp% guy and Avi routinely hits 30hrs a year ON AIR.

Yeah she's fucking fantastic.  F*ck any of you who still think she's doing even "ok" at the job.

It's a shame that someone who did break a pretty signficant barrier is doing horrid at their job and should have been fired a month into this season.

Don't forget that 0 mistakes have been made and everything negative that has happened has simply been "bad luck"

Don't worry, once Jesus Aguilar is off the roster, Kim will finally have full control.

the only bad luck was her hiring

so maybe that's why there's literally never any action. It's not that she's indecisive.  SHE'S FUCKING LAZY.

She started off the interview by saying that she wished she would’ve gotten more sleep last night.

Not joking.

Last night? What was going on last night? The trade deadline was done at 6, she had ample time to sleep.

This is the most boring brand of Marlins baseball that I can recall. I decided to take a nap after the second inning and I don't regret it.

It's probably BS. It makes me think she tried hard and failed, and is trying to save face.

There's no way she just sat there and waited for offers to come to her. That plus the report about backing out of a Yankees trade makes me think she just fucked this up.

The real probably is lack of urgency.

Ownership is just fine with how things are (making money hand over fist) so as long as she doesnt go over budget they are like do whatever you want.

She basically was holding out for massive returns (see the trade she did make), instead of just trading for the sake of trading.

See the posts last week to go through how there werent really many other truly tradable assets and if you think you are going to compete next year, why give up pieces for what are lesser returns in theory just to say you completed trades.  That alone is kinda stupid.

Except you want a GM who is reaching out and seeing if there's anything that can be had for the guys who aren't going to really be a part of the Marlins future.  You simply never know if another GM might believe you really like a particular guy on the team and would want too much for their actual value so they never bother asking because it's a waste of their time when in reality this player might be available for less than thought.  Getting conversations going and getting GMs to consider some of your players might help start a trade that works for both teams when another falls apart.  Listening to a GM sit there and say "I didn't call anyone and just let them call me instead" is lazy no matter which way you try and frame it.  And again, she apparently can't even look at player stats and understand what they mean as evidenced by earlier in the season when she clearly had no idea who Avisail or Soler were as players by boasting about completely fictional statistics.

In summary, our GM is lazy and clueless and the owner is cheap.

Hey you want Jesus Aguilar?

Hey you want Richard Bleier?

Whom else should she trade or have traded that isnt actually someone not in their plans?  I mean Miguel Rojas I guess, but he is a part of the fabric of the organization at this point, so he isnt being moved.

Anyone else you have control over or they have even less value.

Seriously i'm not sure what some people on here expected? Trades for the sake of trades taking lesser value than they perceive a player is worth?

The only guy they probably should have been more aggressive in moving was Pablo Lopez, but I mean if you aren't going to get the value you feel he is worth, why are you moving him when you can have him into your rotation in 2023.

I dont get that part really.

You are right and all the banging your head on the wall won't resonate with some here. Frankly, I think the Cooper/Anderson/Berti injuries really impacted things also.  It's really too bad they were banged up, but everyone has control so who cares. These aren't world beaters. Those guys are all getting project relievers pretty much and FV40+ at best bullpen arms aren't moving the needle here. It'll be the same trade in the offseason so there is nothing to worry about at all here.

I hope we can focus on the meat - new manager, holy shit get a center fielder, what is a second bat upgrade (1B? SS?), and the big question, will Bruce spend for any of that or is Kim forced to make miracle hail mary trades with a $75m team.

It’s not a big deal I guess, but Tanner Scott and Steven Okert could have been traded.
