I still think someone probably would have put an offer in on Rojas and likely Aguilar as well for some stretch run depth. Rojas and Aguilar should have been traded for almost anything they could get back. Despite the crap offense the Marlins have - they do have viable pieces, the problem is the team so unbalanced and constructed that they don't work together at all.

Wendle i'm somewhat happy is still here. That said, i'd love to know what she passed up on for him because guys like that are incredibly valuable to teams in the hunt as they can fill in nearly anywhere and do it almost as well as the guy they're filling in for. Rojas and Aguilar both should have been given up for 30FV guys or above. Hell, take an expiring contract back even if it meant getting a better prospect. It's not like he's spending on the team elsewhere. I absolutely refuse to believe there were zero good offers out there for anyone but Bass and Pop.

MAYBE she could get by on a team that is absolutely loaded that can almost self-manage but she is CLEARLY NOT the GM for the Marlins. I know some people will say she's only had one full season but she had most of the offseason following the playoff run in 2020 as well to identify needs and make appropriate signings and she's failed. I also believe that since both Jeter and Denbo have now left it's clear that the bizarre moves and/or lack thereof IS entirely KIM NG's doing. She needs to go and needs to go as soon as possible as she has done NOTHING to help this organization in the two offseasons and what will be two regular seasons coming up soon now that the deadline has passed and the Marlins are out of it. She's dead weight right now. The deadline was her last shot and she sat on her hands and made one tiny trade. Get her out of there. Take the PR hit. It's not like the Marlins will have fewer fans because of it. Seriously. She's been that atrocious at this job. i'm shocked and surprised she was/is this awful but it is what it is. She doesn't have the fortitude to be a MLB GM. Fire her. Yesterday. Bring back Michael Hill.

We all fired her months ago lol. 3 hours ago, SonOfJack said: She was too busy fielding calls on Pablo. Had no time for anything else. This really does seem to be the case, doesn’t it?

There’s no way contenders didn’t offer something decent for some other guys.
August 3, 20224 yr Ha I wish the off season was shorter...I need Ng and Sherman to rip the bandaid off.

Trading Rojas for a FV30 prospect would have been a horrendous mistake. He's pacing as a 1.5 WAR player this year minimum (some projections closer to 2). He makes $5m next year and amazingly, having his best defensive year since 2022. I do think he is expendable, but maybe pump the breaks here. This take is DUMB. However, taking back expiring contracts to get better prospects is SMART and they should be doing that in non contending years. 100%. Aguilar will be on revocable waivers. I bet he'll be moved for something we all forget in 3 weeks. Like Joe Dunand.

August 3, 20224 yr The only real mistakes were not capitalizing on Garrett Cooper's value, but I'm also guessing there werent good offers on him. It was a somewhat weird deadline yesterday as it is. Players that SHOULD have been moved didnt move (cough cough Cubs). Teams that SHOULD have made moves didnt (White Sox, Guardians), so its just really weird how all this went down. The trade Ng did make was a really good one, lets not lose sight of that. But ya she should have done well to offload some other players, but of the guys that have any value, why are they looking to trade them for pennies when they have them for next year? Aguilar probably has no value Nobody is taking Garcia and Soler Wendle is a guy they can use next year, so why are they 'giving him away', same with Rojas. Cooper they should have moved but I"m guessing Kim got trash offers on him and really he is a 1b/DH and should be a DH only. There isnt a ton of value in that especially when he doesnt have insane power. Positional flexibility is a big thing with a lot of organizations. Cooper is the opposite of that. Not really sure there are any other players that you'd want to trade that actually have any real value. So there is that... The other relief pitchers they didnt move, could they have moved a Bleier or Floro for some lesser minor leaguer? I guess? But what does that accomplish? Making a move to just make move? They dont have some big time pitching just knocking on the door so who really cares end of day.

Don't forget for Cooper, Lewin may not be good (they have their own evaluation of him I'm sure already made), as well as everyone has control so they can get virtually same flyer prospects for anyone they want to move. I would love to see this board if we were the Cubs and Contreras wasn't moved. I'm not sure a compensatory pick outweighs offers for one of best catchers in baseball. That's nuts.
