No I don't miss Loria. Mike Hill? Yea I'd take him back now. But while Sherman sucks so far Loria had things I couldn't stand either so I don't miss him. I wish we had someone better than both Loria and Sherman but I don't want Loria back.

Also I really don't miss the negativity and embarrassments that Loria brought to the team image. Along with on field success I really want this team to just stop being a laughing stock. Respectability would be nice.

I'd take 11-12 Offseason Loria. And 04-05 Offseason. He at least gave it a shot.

I don’t miss Loria, because remember with Loria also included David Samson. 😂

 

Mike Hill, yeah a little bit. But actually I would say Larry Beinfest even more than Hill.

 

What I really miss though is feeling some excitement about watching a Marlins team. Haven’t really felt that since that 2017 team with Stanton, Ozuna, Yelich and Justin Bour to name a few.

 

I know that run in the 2020 season had some excitement. But seriously that team with guys like Villar, Dickerson, Dugger And Yamamoto was just as frustrating as it was exciting. 😂

 

So do I miss having Loria as an owner, no. Do I miss some of the seasons when Loria was the owner, yes.

 

Something else to mention.

Today I learned that Michael Jordan is a part owner of the Marlins. I know it’s just another business venture for him, and it’s probably just a very small percentage of the team since I read that he just chipped in $5 Million. But I can’t believe I never knew that. 😂😂😂😂😂

Samson didn't bother me at all, especially not the extent be bothered some of ya'll lol.  Loria was a better owner than Sherman and I'd welcome him back with open arms if they could reverse the sale back to him.  Sherman is awful, absolutely putrid and has wasted key years by some of the younger guys by refusing to even get us out of the bottom 1/4 of the league in terms of payroll.  Hill was light years better than Ng has been.  There's no way the Marlins get to the playoffs in 2020 without him GMing like his pants were on fire and moving pieces around. Ng is a fucking idiot and Sherman is a beyond cheap POS. What a treat for us remaining fans.

He was one of the original investors with Jeter but are we sure he's still there? Kinda surprising it's not more publicized tbh.

The principle owner shouldn't have this as a passive income thing. All those extras owners with small percentages invested are basically meant to be passive owners, not the principle guy though.

I feel like Sherman isn't really a baseball fan. What's his motivation for doing this? If he's making a profit now, why go and take that risk? This is some pasty ass old dude that lives in Naples. I don't think he's a "pushing his chips in" kind of guy.

I don’t miss Loria cause we ALL hated that whole time (let’s not forget)…

but if the question is if this particular ownership group has turned out to be worse so far, then absolutely, yes. Loria lucked into a franchise at a time way before salaries hit the stratosphere. So at the time, no one could understand the degree to which he was financially unable to handle a franchise. Plus in those days it was thought that a new stadium and it’s corresponding revenue streams would bring fans out and help fund a winning product so he fought hard for that and got it for us. When Sherman bought, we already knew that the fans WILL NOT COME unless there is a winning team on the field yet Jeter and Sherman still had unrealistic expectations regarding attendance. Salaries had already been inflated to incredible heights partly due to the high-mark Loria himself set with the Stanton deal. So bringing another broke fuck in to buy this team who wasn’t in the position to immediately push payroll to at least $150M and get the local population excited about this team again was ridiculous. They had ONE CHANCE to go all in the for the first year or two of owning the team to finally shed the reputation this team had and they 100000% botched it by basically having a fire sale.
 

I understand the concept of having to build a farm to be sustainable, but this team couldn’t afford that given who they were. It would have been a better business decision to go two seasons with that old core and bring in studs to pitch and if it doesn’t work you re-tool it in year three. But instead they enforced the Marlin stereotype of trading all their good players and fucked all of us true fans in the process. So no, I won’t miss Loria, but mother-fuck Sherman and Jeter for this new age of the never ending circus.

He signed players to backloaded deals and then mortgaged the farm to get rid of the contracts before he would have to really pay them. Did he ever pay anyone an actual large amount to the conclusion of their contract? While I love the park, they scammed Miami to get it done and effectively stole from the people. Plus the team was run like a clown show. Sherman hasn't done anything to credit, though. But a goose egg is better than the negatives of Loria and Samson. Give me someone else, but not them.

yeah, he seems low energy af and doesn't seem to be a big fan of baseball in general.

I am totally basing this on his lack of presence and voice regarding the team so maybe Bruce is just a quiet hermit. who knows?  But compared to Loria, who was clearly a fan of baseball and did want to win (regardless of his cheapness and meddling), Sherman is a lame duck owner who just wanted something to make him some extra millions each year from revenue sharing - nothing more.
