June 11, 20233 yr I don’t think we should target anyone. Fortes should be the starter and I guess Stallings can back up. Usually catchers aren’t traded midseason.
June 11, 20233 yr We flat out don't have what it would take to acquire an actual elite player. Bruce just needs to actually pay for one when they become available instead of putzing around with middle tier "let's hope" guys.

June 11, 20233 yr It just sounds like a false flag when the FO say they’re looking at other options at catcher. It’s just another way of keeping us hoping when they know there isn’t much on the market & the real problem isn’t the position but a bat that they won’t spend on. What can they do now, you can’t trade injured prospects (Rogers, max, Sixto) for low value it would be a Loria move. I think this FO is in a stalemate for sure if we keep winning.

June 11, 20233 yr If the Marlins actually want to help the team they should just jettison Segura and Avi and trade Cooper then focus on upgrading 3b or 1b with a proven top tier bat that can sit in the heart of that lineup every day and not only on days when they catch. The lineup needs an everyday boost and they aren't going to find that via trade this season.

Focusing on a position in this case when it’s not the problem will cost more capital (prospects) for an already weak return just because you want to replace a bat. Replacing bad with average only keeps you average. I’d go after an elite bat in fix the main problem. Devers at 3B would be great. It’s all about the cost of improving. if you can improve from bad to average at a position, that lifts the whole team up….it doesn’t “keep you average”. And if you can do that for a relatively low cost, you do. If they want half the farm to go bad to average, that’s different .

If our offensive abilities went up to average with the way we've pitched this season, we're winning A LOT more games.

June 14, 20233 yr Joey Bart Ivan Herrera Mitch Garver Will Banfield Those are your options. Bart's trade value is at an all-time low, worth a roll of the dice, Peyton Burdick, Josh Simpson and Cherif Neymour should do it (if they want Jerar or Brazoban have at it). Herrera will cost us a decent prospect, do you hear me Jacob Barry. Garver can probably be had for someone like a Morrisette or McCants. Edited June 14, 20233 yr by TheMarlinsProject

June 20, 20233 yr Maybe the Marlins should try to trade for Contreras and get STL to eat some of the salary. He's already played his way into the doghouse w them, and into RF at one point this season. If they eat some of the salary, could be the move.

Also, they just signed him. No way they eat money on a contract so soon.
