They could have signed Avisail Garcia to the deal the Marlins signed him to and still would have been a very good team.

The Astros being very good has nothing to do with the fact that Abreu was a bad signing, and if the Marlins signed him, you would be complaining about how bad he is and how the Marlins gave him too much money.

I wouldnt be wholly surprised to see Bellinger stay with the Cubs signing a big dollar deal. Hell it might even happen this weekend, but fuck the Cubs, so I hope he doesnt.

what about de la cruz and sanchez? are they expected to continue 'earning' a spot. I dont think DLC will get the oppurtunity he had this year, and he didnt impress too consistently, except for staying healthy. i believed in him but too often his overswinging and trying to mash a homer got him in bad pitch counts and tho he was a good hitter with 2 strikes, he wasted the 1st 2 strikes trying to unleash fury on a homerun usually resulting in swing and miss or fouling a perfect pitch over the middle. if he tried to hit more singles and take the homers as they come i wouldnt be opposed to having him as the regular starter, but his poor defense and bad hitting habits i think make it hard. i wouldnt go with the bellinger route tho unless they traded DLC and Sanchez for some other infielders or pitchers and then signed Bellinger.

I'd roll the dice on tim anderson for a 1-2 year deal

Padres must really be in a no money situation.  That would have made too much sense to exercise that, especially since Michael was worthy of that deal tbh.
