Did you bet the under

You mean the basement of the house? But where would you live and work?

So did you

I'm going to go ahead and take a look and if that's the under I'll put a bet on it.  Not much, granted, as I'm not much of a gambler but I view it as - if they suck (which seems likely with the entire staff injured and the "new" approach on offense) I win some money.

Conversely, if they excel somehow despite all odds, I'm a happy camper and couldn't care less about losing a few bucks I would have just spent on blow anyway.

This a a 90+ loss team

Honestly this team could approach 100 losses if the pitching staff remains decimated like this. Literally missing four-fifths of last year's rotation right now.

For all of the talk about this FO not signing anyone this offseason (and rightfully so), it wouldn't have even mattered. You can't expect to contend when essentially your entire starting rotation is out. Signing a couple of mid-tier arms really wouldn't have helped much at this point.

Guys let’s give it a couple of months or so in the regular season to see how things fully play out before already pronouncing the season as already over. There are many factors that go into a team being successful besides just pitching as we all know.

In 2022 the Marlins at one point had the top 2 out of 3 or 4 pitchers in the NL with Sandy and Pablo. But they couldn’t hit or score runs especially on games when those guys pitch (Pablo for some strange reason the most).

I’m not saying that the Marlins current rotation with all the hurt pitchers is enough by itself to get them to a winning record. But all I’m saying to take a deep breath.. remember that spring training games are a terrible predictor of the regular season and wait til like end of May before giving up on the season.

I know these words will fall on deaf ears (or eyes I guess) and of course by the end of the first week if the Marlins are like 2-5 most people will be proclaiming the season over and stuff. But well. Just have to say it like I say it every year. 😂

Gonna be honest: does it even really matter at this point? We are already without Sandy. If Eury is out for any extended period of time, this season is basically done.

While it seems unlikely this year will repeat last year, you use payroll to sign guys and trade them for prospects/additional pieces for next year if/when you're out of it, especially pitchers, which are always needed at the deadline.

@TaiwanMarlins posted it above, but I was going to mention the deals the big remaining FA starters are reportedly looking for:

Clevinger - 1-year deal, not sure of value

Lorenzen - 2-year deal, has already turned down 1-year deals in the $5-7M range

Snell - 2-3-year deal w/ opt outs and AAV in $30M range

Montgomery - 7 year deal

If snell only wants a 2 year deal then…

Well, he wants a 2/$60M with a 3rd year option essentially...

Just stop.  The Marlins are not interested in being competitive this year.  They aren't signing anyone else.

They need start Dane over Avi or not a serious franchise

Can confirm I'd rather have Mads Mikkelsen in there over Avisail

or even my Great Dane

don't care.  Avi is waste of a spot 100%
