The pirates signed Michael Taylor for 1/$4M and the A’s just signed JD Davis for 1/$2.5M + $1M in incentives.

For a minute I was so confused with JD(Martinez), JD Davis and Jonathan Davis who we also called JD.

Sounds like you been drinking too much JD

Marlins can either have Sixto or Eury but not both at the same time.

However the Marlins can absolutely have Stallings/Fortes and Brinson/Harrison at the same time with no issues whatsoever. 😂

Don’t worry.  Our pitching plans won’t change. They won’t sign anyone because why improve the team?

Eury TJ lol

if they don’t sign a SP this an extremely unserious franchise

To what end? This roster is not good. Bendix knows hes got years of work to do to create a sustainable contender. Throwing money at any SP right now isn't going to change that.

They're serious about saving money

$15m to clevinger makes this team a lot better

At the rate they're losing starting pitchers would it be enough though

You also never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Which I still don’t understand that one.

He's not missing anything. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are trash.

Elbow soreness will 💯 mean TJ surgery. And yet we still sign nobody.

Gonna be honest: does it even really matter at this point? We are already without Sandy. If Eury is out for any extended period of time, this season is basically done.

We know they aren't going to sign anyone.  That's just a fact.  As it stands now, we have this rotation:

J. Luzardo

A .J Puk

T. Rogers

R. Weathers

V. Gutierrez

Assuming that Garrett and Cabrera don't have set backs, (both are already throwing) they should be built up and back in the rotation with in a couple weeks of the season starting.

Also, Meyer will be building up in AAA. As will Yonny Chirinos and Roddery Munoz.  We can get by with that starting five for 2 or 3 weeks.

Keep in mind that Chirinos, Munoz and Gutierrez are the type of depth signings the fish make.  Spending big on a FA, even for one season isn't in their plans.

The real issue remains the offense. That  Avi contract is such an anchor.  Both Dane Myers and Grifin Conine deserve that roster spot more than he does.  It's also keeping us from signing a legit DH. I say cut ties now, and give Myers, Connie, Johnston or Gray a shot.

The money is already gone.  Letting Avi hit below the mendoza line is just adding insult to injury.   Paying him NOT to play is preferable.

I've noticed Conine got a TON of playing time this spring compared to the past. He was playing almost every day at one point, albeit off the bench. I know he was sent to minor league camp and is unlikely to make the OD roster, but he should be first man up in 2024 maybe.

I agree he deserves the roster spot more than Avi though already.

I have a feeling that this is the year that Avi will be traded.. unless he starts off with an incredible outstanding offensive production. In which case I actually think he would definitely be traded.

Before you all say “nah hasn’t happened yet, why would it now?”

Keep in mind that Kim was running the show all these years that Avi has been here and since it appears she was a fan of his, he wasn’t going anywhere. But now there’s a new sheriff in town. And he could have less patience when it comes to how long they will keep an unproductive player out there everyday. Keep in mind we haven’t seen how things will be under Bendix.. when it comes to player decisions.. in day to day regular season for the Marlins. Probably by mid to end of May we will have a much better picture of the situation and see if we notice any trends from him like sending players up/down and even signing any additional free agents early in the season.

Could happen.. let’s all wait and see. But yeah, once again. Avi should go.. unless he comes out the gate hitting .310 over the month of April then he can stay just to build trade value and then in July or August he should go.. time for a new Marlins prospect to step up and get a chance before they all start turning late 20’s with no MLB experience because someone like Avi is holding that spot.
