How about Cory Sullivan or Jeremy Reed in CF?
Did a new thread need to be started for this? There's already a thread titled 'Centerfield' (!!!!) on the first page.

Hell has frozen over: John Kruk says Marlins can be very good
That's a gigantoid "if" in Kruk's statement. Also, I'm sure these players would like some notoriety. They're not blind to the lackluster attendance.

4/18- Nationals at Marlins
Minervini just said "Hanley is all juiced up and ready to go." Nice choice of words there, smart guy.

Positive, Negative Media Spin
We can be pleasantly surprised by it and optimistic about the future of this team as the season progresses or we can be pessimistic and have no faith that the team will overachieve this year. I disagree. I think there are more options than those two extremes you presented. I'm a realist who is happy with the early season success, going along for the ride and hoping it continues; but I'm also aware that the Marlins being a great team this year is not realistic.

Who's going to the Braves and Nationals series ?
Ill be there wednesady. Anyone know the pitching matchups? It's scheduled to be Hendrickson vs. Hudson on Wednesday.
-
WOW...we've allowed 40 runs in 6 games.
None of these stats are indicative of anything, they aren't informative at all, not yet. I think the team deserves the benefit of a doubt before we start becoming alarmed (or excited) about how they perform. Precisely!

A Tale of Two Cities
The only logical conclusion I would come to when I see a subheading that says "Willis vs. Miller, spring 2008" is a comparison between the two. There's nothing in the original post that in alters that perception.

Who would you have in CF so far,
Why'd you put up BA numbers intead of OBP?

Despite the loss of Cabrera, ESPN still see us as a contender

Scott Rolen.
He hasn't been particularly good 2 of the last 3 years and he's injury prone. I don't think he's enough to make us a playoff team with all the pitching question marks we've got. So why go after him? I feel like I'm being unfortunately negative here, but how can we even be talking about playoffs at this point? You're right, we agree. The playoffs are out of reach so we shouldn't go after anybody that's not dirt cheap and young (only exception to the young part being players to fill out the roster).

Possible Steal at Catcher and 1B?
He had the lowest OBP and SLG of his career in 2007, plus he's 39 so further decline should be expected.

Justin Miller, Marlins agree to terms
I wonder how far down the line he is to have a shot at the closer's role if Gregg gets traded.

Just For Fun
Even though he didn't do well, Rabelo>Olivo.

Interesting Non-Tenders
Sign Dallas plz
-
Pavano?
He's had one good year and has had various injury problems, I only would've been okay with him signing for the minimum, but I guess he's staying w/ the NYY.

Phillies reject Helms trade with Marlins
Lofton had a decent year in 07, including a pretty good run in the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets overpaid by someone on a 1-year deal.

Barfield can't get on base.

Needs: 3B, C
What about Mike Lamb?
-
Needs: 3B, C
Ensberg would be worth a shot. High upside, low risk. The ESPN blog mentioned an option could be Uggla to 3B and Fredo to 2B. I think it was just the writer speculating and not based on anything he got from the team. That would be terrible. I wouldn't want to see Fredo out there everyday although he's good with the glove. He'd be terrible offensively given a whole year IMO.

Looks like the big boys over at MLB are not pleased
I don't see what they could say specifically about trading Cabrera, since he's going to get one of the biggest contracts ever when he hits free agency.

Another Loria Bombshell
2003 will you ever stop licking Loria toes? Enough already, BTW you can get off his jock while you are at it Mere words will never be able to deter undying and eternal love.

Cabrera, Willis traded to Tigers
No word on the prospects?
-
Guess who donated $20 million to his alma mater?
I think that arguing over whether Loria's personal finances are correlated to team finances is moot. The point is this: Loria obviously has enough money to spot a gap in the stadium funding, but he chooses not to for his own reasons. That's fine, because he's probably earned the right to save up some cash. However, if he's not willing to go the 'extra mile' or sacrifice a bit of pure profit, he's not fit to be an owner. And God knows he's proven that over the years. Exactly
