  1. Dude, what ARE you smoking? Talk about delusional! Next thing you're going to say is that George Bush isn't doing such a bad job as president! The Braves talent is not much better than ours. With the exception of Chipper and Andrew Jones, the young talent is comprable. Everyone has Hermida rated a better prospect than Francouer. We'll all get to see him now in the next couple of days and judge for ourselves. McCann is hitting above his head right now. He won't lead the league in hitting I promise you that. We also have a surplus of young pitching talent that the Braves wish they had. We'll be in much better shape than the Braves in 2 to 3 years. By the way, Bush is doing a great job, too bad you just don't get it. However, this is not a political thread. That stuff doesn't belong here.
  2. Borowski sucks!!! Herges sucks!!! Moehler doesn't suck, but he really doesn't serve a purpose on this team. Get rid of all of them, and give the young guys a shot. That's what this season is all about. Enjoy watching the kids develop and don't worry about the loses. I mean really, what's one win more or less when you have no shot at the play-offs. Since we went with young players I say we go young all the way.
  3. It's the front office that blew it. Joe is a nice guy and he might some day be a good manager. However, he was not the man for this job. The Marlins needed someone with manager experience. Someone with a strong resume on coaching young players. Even a minor league manager. Now, not only do our players have to learn in the big leagues but so does our manager. Joe was put in a no win situation. It's not his fault at all. However, the bottom line is that he is our manager, and he will get better along with the rest of this team. We do have to cut him some slack. As for the closer problem, I honestly think that if he sticks to one guy for a while, regardless of the out come, some one will emerge as a legit closer. We have a lot of good arms in the pen, they just need time to adjust to the majors, and learn their roles. That said, Borowski, and Herges have no business closing because they have no future with us. Pick one of the kids and give him time to develop.
  4. Dontrell has won a Cy Young award, been an All Star twice, was runner up in the Cy Young voting after winning 22 games last year, is 17 games over .500 lifetime, and has 47 wins in 100 starts (almost 50% of his starts he wins). All this and he is entering just his 4th season at 24 years of age. Yet you think he is going to fade. Why because of a couple bad starts? Do you actually watch him pitch? He doesn't have a blazing fastball but his STUFF is certainly very good. When he keeps the ball down, like he does most of the time, he is very hard to hit. Forget the windup. Location and change of speeds are what make the D Train. Also, forget all those crappy a@@ stats, and line drive numbers and saber stats. This kid has been winner everywhere he has pitched. Not just a winner but he has dominated. I guess penguino doesn't think Maddux belongs in the hall of fame because he doesn't have great STUFF. I'll take D-Train over A.J, Penny, and Beckett anyday. They couldn't do what he's done with the same team behind them. STUFF is over rated......
  5. industrialescampeon Posted Today, 09:42 AM QUOTE(Hermida_Rules27 @ May 3 2006, 11:09 PM) I disagree, Borchard has had plenty of chances and has never been better than below average. I dont think theres any changing that, that he is not a good ball player. I dont think this move makes any sense, it doesnt hurt, it doesnt help...it just pretty much makes everything stay the same. Well you might be right two months from now when we have given him a chance to showcase his skills, or lack thereof. The point is that you need to give the guy a chance, only then we'll know if the move was successful or just another stupid move by Beinfest. Another stupid move by Beinfest? You have to be kidding me. This man has done miracles with the little resources he has been given. What stupid move can you name that has not been financially related? He is one of the better GM's in baseball.
  6. I think this is a good move. We have nothing to lose. Look how long it took Jose Guillen of the NATS to establish himself. Guillen was once a top prospect with the Pirates before he bounced around for a few years and then finally he fullfilled some of his promise with the Reds. Borchard could be on the same track. He was once a top prospect for the White Sox. It could be he's a late bloomer. Give him a chance. He might surprise. Might some steady playing time is all he needs. Better than what we have.
  7. Well, I'm just going off of his offensive stats. I know he was moved there at the start of this season, but he has already played 25 games there. I really haven't heard anything as far as his defense goes whether it's good or bad. All I know is that we can't lose any more games than we are already. It can't make things worse. I could be wrong but I'm just tired of getting little to zero production from the five through eight spots. I'm assuming and hoping that Jacobs will get it going soon, and that Hermida will get back soon also, but as of right now things are bleak at the bottom of the order.
  8. Jose Campusano .353 BA/ .415 OBP/ .850 OPS/ 14 SB/ 2 CS/ 85 AB Given the hole we have in center field and the fact that neither Reed nor Abercrombie appear ready for the major leagues, nor Cepicky for that matter, should we give this kid a chance? I think we have nothing to lose. Miggy, and Willis made the leap from AA. I really like the OBP and Avg. If he works out it would allow us to use Hanley down the order more where he can drive in runs. Thoughts???
  9. 60% might be a decent number but thats far from a guarantee! I would hope that there's more than a 60 percent chance.
  10. miamibaseball Posted Today, 05:43 PM i know spanish i will gave you all update Yeah but do you know english??? Lol Just busting your chops miamibaseball. I'll be waiting for the updates. Thanks
  11. QUOTE(Hermida_Rules27 @ Apr 22 2006, 3:44 PM) Then we can drop kick the worthless Mitre out of the rotation and put whoever is left behind of Johnson or Nolasco in there, and actually have a decent starting staff. Willis-Nolasco-Olsen-Johnson-Vargas is a much better rotation than what we are throwing out there now...the worthless Moehler and Mitre and the struggling Vargas. I just think Vargas will turn it around, the other two theres no hope for though.
  12. I don't care where San Antonio is going to be in 10 years, it will not compare to South Florida. What, South Florida isn't growing? Do you even realize the housing boom we just went through and are still going through to some extent. How do you know what's in Loria "dome"? You bring nothing but speculation to this forum. You have nothing to base your statements on and then you even try to read people's "domes". What a joke! Loria spoke with Benson? Where has that been reported? No where! The fact that you compare what happened in New Orleans to something that might happen here in South Florida shows just how little you know. New Orleans is below sea level and had an out dated levy system it depended on which failed them. We don't have that here. We've been hit with many Hurricanes including Andrew, and our economy is just fine thank you.
  13. Do you realize what you are saying? The Marlins are going to say sure, go ahead and build a Stadium so that the Twins can move down to South Florida. A stadium that they have been trying to get for themselves for many years mind you. Then at the same time they are going to move to San Antonio which is a much much smaller TV market, to get their stadium done. So in the end the Twins get a new Stadium in a large TV market, and the Marlins get a new Stadium in small TV market. All of this because you think Loria does not want a Stadium in Hialeah? YOU HAVE TO BE FREEKING KIDDING ME!!!! I'm not a big fan of our front office but I know they are not stupid. In the end they will make the best business decision. The decision that makes them the most money is staying in South Florida, and yes even Hialeah. Dude, I know you are a homer, and want to have a team in your area, but please use common sense before you post such garbage. You need to come to the realization that no one wants to pick San Antonio over South Florida. That is just a fact. San Antonio over Minnesotta? Probably, but not over South Florida!!! The only way the Marlins move to San Antonio is if they can't get a stadium built here at all. Then they would have to no other option.
  14. Application 15? or 5?
  15. If healthy, it has to be Carlos Martinez! Just look at his K numbers. He has the stuff. I think German and Resop (When he's brought back) should set up. I also think Herges is no more than a middle reliever if anything at this point. I also don't think Borowski is the answer. The bullpen needs a veteran presence but Herges and Borowski have both seen better days. They just don't have dominating stuff. I want a guy that can k a couple of batters once in a while and take the pressure off of our young players on defense in the late innings.
  16. I'm new to this MLB.TV thing. Can anyone explain to me why I am blacked out with the game not being on cable today? The only reason I got MLB.TV was to be able to watch on the days they aren't on cable. Thanks
  17. Borowski or Herges will get the Ax. Resop isn't going anywhere. Reed can take his gold glove to triple A where it belongs. Cepicky is not the answer but I will take him over Reed.
  18. It's too soon to give up on Abercrombie. Especially considering that we have no one else to put in there. I agree that Aguila should be starting in center. However, they should keep Willy behind the plate, and Abercrombie in LF. There is a reason that Olivo is a journeyman catcher. He just can't hit. If anyone should be sent down it is Reed. He is great on defense but the kid just can't hit and I don't think he ever will. At least Abercrombie has some upside if he ever learns to make more contact. I think we are rushing to conclusions with Abercrombie, especially considering that the only consistant hitters so far have been Ramirez, Willingham, and Cabrera. Let's give them a few more weeks.
  19. Don't Ambers and Wellmeyer have to make the team since they are out of options?
  20. I know I'm a little bit off of topic here but I have a suggestion. Has anyone here ever tried making a Logon id with MLB.com listing you as from Oklahoma for example, and then tried to order MLB Live? Maybe that will keep you from being blacked out, if they list you as being from a different state? Not sure. Just a thought. Might try it myself.
  21. You mean turning a $65 million team of chronic underachievers and complainers into a team that has and is leading all of baseball in spring training wins? Calling them a minor league team is so unknowledgable on your part it's almost, no it is, laughable. I suppose you'd rather have Juan Encarnacion still in right and Gonzo (who's hitting almost a hundred points under the Mendoza line last time I checked) at shortstop instead of Jeremy Hermida and Hanley Ramirez, two the very top prospects in the game and guys who would be starting on a dozen other teams this season if their GMs had the chance to acquire them, or weak-hitting Mike Lowell (0 homers and one run batted in in a team-leading 41 at bats this spring), who almost every report seems to indicate has the Red Sox front office very worried that he's done at third, rather than Miguel Cabrera manning that position? There are some glaring holes in this team and without doubt any number of question marks, but Loria and company have done exactly the right thing in hiring Joe Girardi and moving the players they did. Case in point, look at teams like Baltimore or Kansas City or the Rockies, Mariners, Washington Nationals, etc., who continue to fumble around trying to build their teams on either aging journeymen or second tier ballplayers and tell me their ownership is smarter than ours. A team like the Orioles ought to be doing exactly what the Marlins did, strip the team bare, get the best prospects they can for Lopez and Tejada and Matos and rebuild from the bottom up. Call them anything you want but they are "our" Florida Marlins. If the front office wouldn't have done these moves for financial reasons, I would agree with you. However, they did this purely to save money. Yes, they are our Florida Marlins, but this is not MY front office. I'll go to games, watch on tv and cheer them on every step of the way, but don't try to sell me on how smart this heartless, gutless front office is. Fans here are too smart for that.
  22. You totally left off Matt Herges, and Kerry Ligtenberg from the pitching staff. They will both make the team. Also I seriously doubt that we will keep three catchers.
  23. I saw where Franklin Gutierrez was just sent down to AAA by the Indians. Any thoughts on possibly trading for him? Is he still considered a top prospect by the Indians, or has he fallen off a little bit? Thoughts?
  24. josh wilson will probably win the second base job. he is a much better defender. uggla will have to out hit wilson big time if he is to start. with all of the young pitchers we have, middle infield defense will be a priority. can't have errors and unearned runs killing their confidence.
  25. Petit isn't going anywhere.. He might not have the stuff of the others but he will have the most success. Let's see! Who had the better stuff, Beckett, Penny, A J, or Willis? It wasn't Willis. Who is the better Major League pitcher? Hands down it's Willis. The heck with stuff and scouts, just get me results...
